I searched but no posts come up. I'm on Day 14, and was feeling great until I got a sinus and had to start antibiotics and prednisone (2nd infection in a month). GRRRRR. Has anyone done a Whole 30? Whole 30

Oh no! Sorry about your sinus infection! Hope you are feeling better quickly!
I did the whole 30 in February 2015. I didn't find it to be too bad. The worst for me was that I had a terrible taste in my mouth for the first three weeks, I believe due to the ketosis. Once I got past the first few days I didn't even have any real cravings. I did it because I was having problems with my hip and I had been reading about inflammation and thought it might help me sort out what was triggering me. It didn't really help the hip much. But as an added bonus, I lost 25 pounds in 30 days, after being in the same five pound (about 35 pounds overweight)range for 20 years. I thought for sure that I would gain it all back when I stopped eating that way, but its been almost a year and a half and I have not gained back any of it. I could still stand to lose another 10-15 pounds, so sometimes I think about doing it again, but I haven't as of yet.
14 days in, you are past the worst of it, I would think. I hope the steroids and antibiotics don't mess with you.

I've done it. I didn't have negative effects but I also didn't see any real benefits. I think it might be because it is pretty close to the way I eat normally.

Whole 30 Wow - 25 lbs is great weight loss, and hearing that you haven't gained it back is wonderful encouragement for me! I know weight loss is not the primary goal of Whole 30 but it's a great side effect. That's one of the minor reasons I am doing it, because I obsessively weighed myself several times a day for years, and I'm "good or bad" depending on what the scale says. Crazy reasoning - and I have almost weighed several times, but decided that's not the hill I want to die on.

I did it, kinda. I found the information about why valuable. I would say we made some big changes to what we were eating. We are eating a lot of veggies and I am reading the labels for a lot of products. I didn't use certain brands of lotion. I also used stevia in my water. Overall I continue to avoid many things that were not whole 30 approved.

There is a gal on Facebook and Instagram that I follow who did a Whole 365. She was so successful after 30 days she just kept doing it and didn't stop. After one year she allowed some things back in her diet for a few months. But recently decided to go back to Whole 30. In one year she lost over 100 pounds and I want to say something like 60 in.
I don't follow a whole 30 diet but I find her very inspirational!
She is lighter curves on Facebook and Instagram I believe.

I eat low carb for the most part, but was thinking about doing the Whole 30. It's just soooo hard for me to give up dairy. I am sucking down some form of dairy all day long, and use milk in my coffee.
And I'm one of those people who loves to bake with almond and coconut flours... My most favorite treat is Almond Cake off the back of a Bob's Mill Almond Flour bag. This behavior is highly frowned upon.
I hope you feel better soon. I wonder if you noticed your skin being clearer, having less inflammation or aches, less brain fog, more energy, etc.
Another thing I don't like about it is the carb count is pretty low so I always get really terrible bad breathe. Ketosis does that, and I've never found a way past it other than increasing the carbs.

I did the Whole 30 earlier this year.I felt great and had some wonderful benefits that I didn't expect - feeling calmer, no more back pain, no more dry eyes. I tried it to see if I could sleep better at night and unfortunately, it didn't help me with that although I know some people have seen improvement there. I did lose a bit of belly fat and about 17lbs.
Giving up sugar wasn't ever an issue but what was tough was dairy, specifically milk in my coffee for lattes. Now that I am off the Whole 30, I drink way less milk and still enjoy my espresso. Another hard part of the Whole 30 is eating ourt or eating at the home of friends. You really have to be prepared or plan to bring your own food.
As for carbs, fruit and potatoes (no fries or chips) are allowed so it isn't too bad.
I am planning on doing another round starting tomorrow. Once I got in the groove it was pretty easy. I usually would make a big batch of soup for lunches and then have a protein with veggies/salad for dinner. Breakfast was scrambled eggs with various mix-ins, my favorites were cherry tomato and prosciutto. I also treated myself to a variety of teas and La Croix waters to drink in addition to regular water.
I also subscribed to the daily emails and found them helpful!

I'm on day 25. Hasn't been too bad but I have definitely never grocery shopped and cooked as much as I have during this. My new tagline is #shopchopcookcleanrepeat! I'm hoping to stay pretty close to how I've been eating with adding some things back in. My headaches and stomach issues are much improved!
I noticed that making some homemade dressings, an avocado dip and mayo has really helped throw things into a meal whereas before I would have just grabbed something easier.
I hope your being sick doesn't hurt how far you've come :-) Had you noticed many changes before you got sick?
