I've used a traditional straightener for years and years but have been intrigued by the hairbrush ones. So, when DH asked for Mother's Day ideas, I told him I'd like to try a hairbrush style straightener and pointed him in the direction of this one: Bestidy Hair StraightenerI didn't get a chance to use it until a couple of days ago and wow. This thing is awesome! SO much faster and tons easier. It also seems to be much more gentle on my hair than the plates-style straighteners. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. Anyone else use a hairbrush-style straightener and LOVE it? L

I have an inexpensive Conair thing that's similar and I was surprised at how well it worked... I liked the idea but didn't quite believe it would work - tricked too many times by straightening devices...lol Thanks for sharing that you like this model... I would like to upgrade what I have now... And happy Mother's Day too btw

I've been wanting to try one but I'm awfully skeptical. I'm glad to hear you had a good experience!

I've not seen one like that but I have a large barrelled hot brush and it smooths, straightens and gives bounce and lift to my hair in a way straighteners and hot air stylers have never been able to do. It was really cheap, but tames my curly, frizzy hair a treat. I like the look of your brush, but I tend to just use my traditional straighteners for my short fringe now, and I'm not sure if I could do that with this. Hot brush styler

That's interesting. I remember having one of those types of thing way back and it was useless....but maybe it was a hot air blower. Is that different? It didn't grip my hair enough to be able to control the shaping and styling, it just made it fluffy.

I've seen them on Groupon and I'm curious. I don't want to buy a cheap one and have it not work for my very thick hair and I don't want to buy an expensive and have it not work either. I think I'd like it most for travel though. Glad you have a good report.

@bumpea - so this doesn't blow hot air like the old style ones....a bit like a hairdryer with a brush attachment?

@bumpea - so this doesn't blow hot air like the old style ones....a bit like a hairdryer with a brush attachment? No, this one doesn't blow air. It has large, ceramic 'bristles' and heats up to 450 degrees. You basically use it 2 ways - 1) hold the section of hair at the bottom, keeping it somewhat taut as you pull the brush through and 2) use the glove it comes with to keep the hair in the bristles as you pull through. I hope that makes sense, I've not had the required amount of morning coffee to be fully awake yet, lol. I can't say that it would work as well on super curly hair or short hair, but moderately curly/wavy hair that is medium length or longer I think it does an amazing job. The benefits for me were that it didn't pull my hair and I could do larger sections at a time than with a plate straightener. I also didn't get those crimps that I often get with a plate straightener. I have bangs and it took one swipe to get them perfect. L

i have the "in styler" that is like a straightening iron with a round brush. I.LOVE.IT - changed my life... ur... changed my hair!
i have a long face and angular features with some slight waves. just enough to make my hair frizzy around my face, not enough to actually have curls or body. when i use a straightening iron, it makes my long hair stick straight which just makes my face look longer and more angular. the in styler straightens the frizz out but adds body at the root, if that makes sense.
i have been very curious about these brushes... thanks for info!!

I have an old style dryer brush. That thing gives me 3rd degree burns if I don't use low.
The brand is Jose Ibere. Yeah it is that old.
Thanks for the recommendation.

That's really interesting- I haven't seen those before. I could see it working well with all my dds' hair but mine is a different animal and think the traditional plates are needed. I think it would work awesome for my "day 2" hair for touching up.

Love mine!!! It smoothes out the frizz so nicely! Which one do you have? My hair is super frizzy and I wondered if any of these brush straighteners would take care of the frizz.

ONE QUESTION: Does your hair have to be perfectly dry before you use this?? I have curly hair (like springy curls) and it's very thick. I blow it out (using coconut oil first) and then quickly flat iron it. Sometimes I add some curl back with a curling iron. So, do you just blow it out without brushing it, and then use this product? TIA!

(My hair is moderately thick, kind of frizzy/wavy on the top layer while the underneath layer curls into large ringlets. It's weird hair.) Blow drying it first would work fine and unless your hair is a mass of tangles, I imagine you could skip the brushing part. Haven't tried it yet, however, so don't swear me to it! L

Thanks! If I turned my head over and blew it dry, I'd have a BIG mess of frizz/fuzz, like Grandmama on The Adam's Family! LOL.... If I let it dry naturally, it takes sooooooooooo long to dry--more than 24 hours...

I've tried but didn't have much luck. It wasn't nearly as good as my regular flat iron. It might be my hair or it might be user error

I have the Perfecter heated round brush. I like the way it smooths my hair, but with the round brush, it makes the ends flip out too much. My hair is about 2 inches below shoulders. I may try this one or the Instyler.

I have a similar one and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use and how quickly it eliminates the frizz.
I am looking for any spray that would make my hair sleeker, sonif you have any recommendations, pls let me know.

Is confused hair an Irish thing? I'm not sure, but over the years I've noticed that - more often than not - people with Irish in their blood have the same crazy hair. Could be just coincidence, but it makes you wonder! L

I just went through 4 different flat irons trying to find one I liked. This brush looks like it would be great for travel or when I want to straighten my hair before curling it. Thanks for the recommendation.
