I struggle with what gel to use. I want something that is just going to give my curls, curl. The gels I have been using make my curls look stiff. Right now I'm using Aussie. What product do you use that you like?

Paul Mitchell Flexible Style. It works great. I read that your hair gets crunchy if you use too much...I only use a pea sized dab on my way hair...no crunch and it's nice and soft.

My daughter has tight curls and she get a Ouidad cut and uses Ouidad products. She only needs a cut 2 times a year and this system has saved us a lot of tears as I have very short hair and she has very long CURLY Q hair!!

I use Frizz Ease products. Usually, I spray the daily leave-in conditioner on my hair after my shower and let it air dry. Lots of soft curls!

Another Frizz Ease user here. I use the serum and a little spritz of Dream Curls, then let my hair air dry. Nice and soft.

I make my own flax seed and marshmallow root gel, and yes, I know I'm an anomaly There's a site called naturallycurly.com that can be helpful, as everyone's type of curls will react differently to different products. As well as humidity, etc. That said, a close second for me for gel is DevaCurl. I use their no-poo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioner,

Thanks for the suggestions. I also always let my hair air dry. Funny!

Paul Mitchell Fast Form. It keeps my curls nice and bouncy without all the frizz. Plus it helps my hair dry quickly. Without the Fast Form my hair would take 24 hours to dry and the under layers would probably still be damp. With the Fast Form it's totally dry within about 4-5 hours.

Tigi product: Curls Rock amplifier by Catwalk.
I have also used the Miss Jessie's products too, no "ramen noodle" hard curls when it dries. I have the pillow soft curls product by Miss Jessie.
I let my hair air dry while I drive to work.

Deva curl. Let hair air dry, then, 'shake it out.' If you don't shake it out, they curls will stay crunchy, but if you shake it out, they don't.

Gel always makes my hair frizzy, but I have really tight spiral curls. I use mousse and hairspray.

I took my daughter to the Ouidad in Manhattan when she was a teen. We moved to FL a few years ago & I had no idea that there was a Ouidad here. Where is it? ? Their style of slice & carve was innovative, and their products are the best for my daughter. For me: I have looser, springy curls but a lot of them. I hardly ever wear it curly anymore. It stays "straight" or beachy by putting on some coconut oil when I get out of the shower. I blow it out and lightly flat iron it. If I want to leave it curly, I also put it up in a loose bun on top of my head when I go to sleep and only use coconut oil. Everyone's curls are different and they react differently to products.

My girls use Redkin Ringlette or AG Recoil. I've tried some of the products mentioned and would love to try others.
I find a good shampoo is almost more important than a good gel. My girls have used Redkin Curvaceous but right now they're using Loma Moisturizig and I love it. I've decided I need to try it!
I also put a bit of oil into the girls' hair and that helps the curls to be soft.

I bought some Curls Lavish Curls Moisturizer 2nd curl refresher/daily leave in spray for DD's curly hair. Leaves her hair nice and soft, and it smells great too. We haven't been using it much because it seems like every other month there has been a lice notice for someone in her classroom so I've been putting her waist long hair in a braid every day. She would much prefer to wear it loose.

That's if I want it to be really curly; if I want it a bit looser, I'll use mousse with a root booster.

My DD will be 12 on Sunday and has tight curls underneath and the top is a lot less curly. I have bought so many products for her to try, including Deva Curl products. We ended up having a stylist with curly hair give her a trim and she was able to show my daughter how to do her hair and which products to use. She now uses Aveda Be Curly products + Aveda Confixer. She mixes the Be Curly Curl Enhancer with the Confixere and puts it on her hair while it's wet, concentrating on the ends. Then she will either let it air dry or use a big diffuser. She completes her routine with the Be Curly hair spray. This has made such a huge difference for her in the frizz department.

Don't laugh at the name "Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft Curls". I got mine at Target-- it is more of a cream/lotion consistency than a gel. It comes in a white tube with baby blue and bright pink writing. Works well in FLA humidity!

So many options! Thank you! I don't have the tight ringlets. Just a nice curl throughout my whole hair. People will ask and fall in love with it and I tend to straighten it more lately, just for something different. And I think straightening it makes me feel better about myself. (Weird) But I don't Always want to do I will have to go through and take note of what all has worked for you all!

One of the best pieces of advice we received from our stylist was to wear in sleeping cap! Saved my daughter! You are on the gulf side?

I've tried many brands, most from salons, but my favorite is Herbal Essences Totally Twisted gel. Never crunchy for me.

I swear by this product-Curl Keeper Original. You can find it here www.frizzoff.com It will completely eliminate any frizz you have and instead of stiff curls like from some gels you get soft curls that bounce. It's so great you can re wet it the next day to reactivate it. I love this stuff! I use the whole line shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner too. Debbie in MD.

I have waist length hair that's naturally curly. I have used every curly hair product around and believe it or not, Garnier curl sculpt cream gel is perfect. It allows my hair to bounce and not be crinkled or feel stiff. My curls look better than ever with this stuff.
I also straighten my hair once a week or so and feel more attractive with it straight. Stange I admit, but I get compliments either way.

Yes, unfortunately on the gulf side, and in the middle of the State, near Tampa. I haven't researched a Ouidad down here. I thought it was just exclusive to Manhattan! Wow... As far as the sleeping cap--no--I've never heard of that!! I'll have to check it out for DD28. It's easier for me to just wear mine blown out because I get a good week's worth of great hair days that way. I just put it up in a loose bun and it comes out perfect in the morning. I honestly think it's healthier for my very blonde (colored) hair because I don't wash it too often. I love it curly too though. It just takes more time and product to get it looking great!

HAD TO ADD: I see something on the Peas and then I'm compelled to try it! I NEVER wear my hair curly, but this thread made me miss it curly, so I've had it au natural for the past few days!! I do find that it looks neater on me to have it blown out though.
