I will get one by noon if I dont get it in the morning. When I have quit coffee I will do it gradually to avoid that headache.

Caffeine withdrawal can be painful. The only thing that kicks those headaches for me is Excedrin, which of course has caffeine in it.
You could pop some Benedryl and let the upper and downer fight it out in your system.

Well, I technically didn't "quit" today, I just had a half of a cup. So tonight I had another half cup. Who knows what tomorrow morning will bring.

If I don't have a coffee in the morning I will have a headache by midday. Funnily enough, when I gave up coffee while pregnant with DS I didn't get any headaches at all.
A family friend used to drink about 20 coffees a day. Her doctor told her she had to give up coffee (lots of issues due to obesity and high blood pressure). She had terrible withdrawal symptoms and suffered horrendous headaches for many weeks.

I have about 2 cups a day now but got it down to one last year when I was training for the NYC marathon. I was supposed to give it up altogether but just couldn't do it - enjoy it too much. I'd suggest reducing gradually to avoid headaches.

Reduce the amount of caffeine slowly by mixing regular and decaf half and half for a few weeks. Then increase the amount of decaf until you can do all decaf. We mix the beans before grinding. Still some caffeine, but a lot less and you'll be less likely to suffer withdrawal headaches. And drink a ton of water to help counteract dehydration. It will help. Seriously.

Yeah- no way would I want to even attempt it. I could make it past the headaches, but I enjoy my coffee!

I have quit before, and it didn't bother me in any way. However, I then decided that I just love the nectar too much and it's more of a ritual than a caffeine thing for me.

I love my coffee but I do drink more in the winter than summer months.

I think I'll try to quit again next week. Maybe. It really is a routine for me. I love my morning coffee with Carnation Hazelnut Creamer. I go to bed thinking about it! I don't like the fat-free or sugar-free versions but it really is a lot of empty calories.

Can you do the gradual withdrawal thing instead of going cold turkey? Your body is used to the caffeine right now. I think those headaches can last up to a week if you don't taper off gradually.
I can't think about going off coffee right now. I'm currently trying to break my Candy Crush addiction, and going cold turkey with that is kicking my ass.

I stopped drinking coffee a few months ago along with diet soda. I also found that I enjoy the ritual, so I just switched to decaf. I had withdrawal headaches, but took a Tylenol mid-afternoon each day and they stopped after about a week.

OH Hun, You have to ween yourself off of the caffeine......
Drink one cup less than you do every day for a week. if you only drink a cup a day then drink half a cup.....
the 2nd week take another cup away. then another on the 3rd week until you are down to 1 cup a day. then you cut it in half every day until you are not drinking it any longer.
Caffeine is a drink. if you have a head ache after one day that means your body is addicted to it and you will not get rid of the headache until you ween yourself off...
good luck
hugs

I swear! I'm going to skip my morning coffee but have half of a latte in the afternoon. I think part of it is the routine of making a cup of coffee early in the morning and then going back to bed to read and drink it.

My doctor told me that caffeine is the number one worst substance to quit. It is harder than quitting cigarettes. I did quit drinking pepsi but I really love my coffee... It is my only bad drink I drink.... other than margaritas on occasion.
I loved iced coffee and I will make a 3 pots and put them in a container and store it in the fridge so it is cold and I don't have to make it every day..... This coming week daughter and I are going to Portland and we already have making coffee for the trip on our to do list before we leave. We are staying with her grandma and they don't drink coffee regularly and have instant when they do drink it. I can't stand instant.
