One of my favorite bloggers wrote a goodbye post earlier this year that was filled with emotion. I took a class from her years ago and liked her perspective.
I still check her blog once a month to see if she's come back. I miss her photos and stories! But respect the need to step away.
Does anyone else do that?

I miss her too...
There are a couple others I miss. I'm trying to read fewer blogs. Annette

I think I know who you're talking about and if so, I miss her too! I love the ones who are transparent and honest and fun and don't take themselves too seriously.

There are several I miss, the first one that comes to mind is Mary Mary's Blog. I enjoyed her projects around their house. Super cute kids too.

I miss the eye candy, but Pinterest makes me twitchy. Tell me what ones you're going to stop and I'll take a look. I also miss links on blogs. I guess it's a strategy for them to not divert traffic away, but I liked seeing a list of who/what the bloggers followed.

Yes. There is one I've followed for years, watched her kids grow up and shared her struggles and victories in motherhood. She made her blog private, and since I never really interacted with her, I felt weird requesting to be able to read it.
I miss reading it, but I understand the need for privacy.

I followed way too many blogs, but when google reader went away I stopped. I tried to use another reader, but it never became a habit. There are a few that I miss...and I have no idea if they are still blogging anymore.

I can't imagine having a blog with a huge following and quitting it, I mean I just don't understand how they do it?

Oh, gosh, yes! I read SO many for couple of years and really enjoyed them. I still keep up with a few through email.
One that I really enjoyed was a woman who may have been a Pea in the very beginning of when I began reading the board...she had two daughters and the first post I read was about remodeling her bathroom...she was hilarious! She had a small dog that had a pooping behind the couch habit. Then something bad happened in her marriage, she stopped blogging for a while, had a couple more posts, then has been gone since. She was so funny!
Years ago I had entire afternoons where I did nothing but click on blogs....

I stumbled upon a Youtuber who posted cooking videos. she would cook and her husband would film. she was just the sweetest thing and her recipes were easy. then I noticed no more new videos were being posted. I searched around a bit and to the best of my "sleuthing", she and her husband got divorced and for some crazy reason, he got control over the video channel. there are no signs that she continued on with a new channel of her own. what a shame, her personality and recipes were really great.

Yes!!! And many of the ones who don't blog anymore (or have gone private) were Peas. I remember back on 2Peas that many of the peas used to include their blog link in their siggy. That's how I got started with many of them. my2apps I know what you mean. Feels odd to request to follow a blogger that you don't really "know" if they go private, but if you have read their blogs for years it feels odd when it suddenly just disappears.

Maybe she's still around, but does anyone remember Blackberry Lou who was a Pea a long, long time ago? She had a blog Life as Lou (I think) and I always enjoyed reading that.
And of course Mary Mary's.
But I also get the need to step away. The thing about blogs is that if you are being genuine and authentic, then you often lay out some personal thoughts or feelings and often someone will use them against you in one way or another and ruin it for you from an emotional standpoint if not in other ways too. When I was blogging, DH was off work and had several surgeries at one point. His family reached out - well, never. Unless he called them. Once it was all resolving, I wrote a rather passive aggressive post thanking our friends who had helped, called, and stood by DH. And then I mentioned that other people hadn't but that something important like a hangnail had probably come up. One of DH's brother-in-laws took it upon himself to print it out and take it to my husband's parents to show them. Caused a big family kerfuffle and blogging was never the same for me.

The Creative Junkie. She is doing great. I follow her on Facebook. She doesn't post a ton but she just posted recently that her oldest DD recently graduated from college. She has a lot of awesome shoes that I drool over but could never wear because the heels are mile high and she is doing some serious working out.

I remember her burningfeather! Jody Wenke was another, maybe-Pea and simple scrapper I enjoyed. I get what you mean about bloggers being authentic. The one I'm missing doesn't seem to have sparked controversy or speculation about her closure. Maybe she wasn't very well known? But I've taken that to be a testimony about her integrity and her fanbase. My carpool, waiting at to pick up at practice days are numbered with youngest getting his license. My excuse to blog surf will be gone soon! Odd how the two eras coincided.

Well if that's how you felt then I don't blame you for writing about it. Maybe they should have thought less about getting pissed off about the post and more about their actions that caused the post.

And that reminded me of Lisa Dickinson, cute outfits. I need to work my biceps!

OP, I miss her too. I didn't really get her last post. I guess she didn't want to come out and say what was going on? Or did I misread it? In any case, my mom and I both followed her and still talk about her once in awhile. We keep hoping that she'll come back at some point.

why the vague-posting here? I don't think anyone is vague-posting, lots have been named. The question I asked was if anyone returned to a blog after the writer said they were stopping.

I loved Mary Mary's blog but following her on Instagram helped fill the void. I get why she needed to step back but I fell in love with Pemberly.
I also really enjoyed following Ariana and was sad when she closed her blog. But she started another one this year and she's pregnant with baby number 6 and struggling with her marriage. I'm hoping for happiness and peace for her.
It's funny how attached you get reading all about someone's life for years.
