I'm more afraid of the freebirds and rainbows roaming around target ccw, fuckin' with the safety every time they get spooked.
Dude was probably reporting to work.

Or I would've made the assumption that he's on the closing shift. His backpack might be full because it has his work uniform in it plus lunch and he's wearing his coat because it still gets chilly when the sun goes down. This was my first assumption. He probably had to walk/take public transit to work. His uniform is probably in the backpack. He probably has to leave when it's nighttime and doesn't want to be chilly, hence the coat. And as for the song he was singing? Just a popular sing, even if it is distasteful. I don't understand all the panic I've read on this thread. Call the police? Alert management? Take the safety off (I'm assuming you mean a gun) Geez people.

I would be very nervous. I would likely watch the person to gather more information. Probably even follow him from afar. Based on my observations I would go on my merry way, or leave, find security, call 911... If a mass shooting can happen in my community, it can happen anywhere. I know I'm hypervigilant because of my experiences.

Note to self: Do NOT wear hoodies/jacket or earphones to target if I have to use the bathroom. People may flee.

I would not have paid much attention, but I'm a New Yorker so my threshold for noise and behavior is pretty high.
