I have an Echo from the pre-launch Prime Members only phase, and another one that my DH bought me for our anniversary 6 months ago. The first Echo is a temperamental little sprite. The second one is a perfect angel. The most recent problem with my first one is that she just randomly starts playing stuff when she's in a room by herself with no utterance of any word that even remotely sounds like "Alexa." And a lot of times what she plays is stuff I've never ever played, or even heard of so she's not even recalling a previous command--she's completely making crap up!
Anyone else have this issue? How did you fix it? Resetting it doesn't help.

I don't have an Echo, but this would kinda freak me out! And it's kinda funny at the same time.

My Alexa doesn't seem to understand my southern accent. She is always telling me that she didn't understand the question/statement. She always understand my dh.

I have a first generation, back when you had to be invited and mine is the classic first child: well mannered, polite, smart, quiet when told to be. It's been fine.

Ours will do the same thing. It doesn't really bother me but when you are upstairs and hearing voices downstairs it can be freaky. We are all use to her misbehaving.

I also have the original, and she's well behaved.

Ours is original, and every once in awhile she'll come out with "I'm sorry, I didn't understand that", seemingly at random. My daughter has a friend named Alexis, so sometimes she'll respond to that.
The other night, though, totally at random she said something along the lines of "All right. Starting trumpet music" and then it started playing some classical trumpet piece. I think it might have been the trumpet finale from Beethoven's 9th Symphony--but I can't be sure. It sure scared the heck out of us, though.

I have the 1st one also. She never understands me. I guess I do not ask in the correct manner. And sometimes the little blue light is going, like she is eves dropping! I was wanting to name her Sonny when we got her. I use her for music mostly.

Ours is from the invitation period. A few weeks ago out of the blue she started playing music. But mostly she ignores me and I have to yell her two or three times. Kind of like having a kid....
