So who saw the announcement on the Silhouette School blog that a new Cameo with optional Bluetooth and auto adjust blade is coming later in the year? There are other new products as well. Here are the details together with a video tour of the new machine. www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2016/05/silhouette-cameo-3-with-optional.htmlyoutu.be/mmiOyfUFxzki just got my Cameo so I certainly won't be upgrading, but it's good to see the move to wireless cutting. Just wish there was some kind of plugin/adapter for existing machines.

Dang! Well this certainly makes me think twice about buying a silhouette anytime soon...

OOOhhhh, that's probably why the 2 has been on sale so often lately. I have been tempted because mine isn't even touch screen (first world problems, right!?) as I have the very first release of the Cameo. I was so annoyed because I bought the SD wanting a 12x12 platform but unable to get one only to just give up and get it less than 3 months before the Cameo was announced. I considered a Scan N Cut because of the wireless capabilities, but I'm going to have to research this more.
Does this mean I need to buy a bluetooth adapter for my computer to use the bluetooth built into the new unit? I've considered it simply so I can use my bluetooh headset from my phone on my computer or buy better headphones. My last wireless ones picked up too much static for my liking but the transmission was between the cradle and the headset, not the computer. Should I need to purchase one to get it to work wirelessly, that just gives me mo reason to buy it versus finding it a luxury. I don't have room anymore to permanently keep my Cameo at my desk so I have to haul it over when I want to use it (I considered drilling holes in the partial wall that separates where it's stored and my desk but opted against doing that). And I think even a Cameo 3 would be less costly than the Scan N Cut.

I am also curious to see if it will have a built in scanner like the scan n cut. I want that for stamp cutting...even though I haven't tested out my pixscan mat to see how complicated that is...I just prefer intuitive use versus steps that I have to look up every time I want to do something. I have to look up videos to figure out how to set up registration marks every time I print and cut on it (to the point where I actually just open an old file with registration marks and move the content out of the way and copy over the new content).

I didn't see any mention of a built in scanner in the video so my feeling at the moment is the new model will keep using Pixscan technology. I use the Pixscan mat a lot and it's really easy. Don't know what phone you have but with my iPhone 5s I didn't need to calibrate at all - just take a photo, send to laptop, import using the Pixscan menu and then trace as normal.

Yes you'll need bluetooth on your computer or whatever device you use to use the software, otherwise your computer won't be able to communicate with the Cameo. ETA I believe the new Cameo will retail for $299 so I think that's quite a bit cheaper than the ScanNCut.

You can purchase adapters for computers so as long as it works with them, it should work...I briefly researched it in an effort to maintain my sanity. My kids like to make the most hideous high pitched screams and sounds (on top of them constantly imitating sirens from every emergency response category) and sometimes the only thing that keeps me from running from the house and leaving them to fend for themselves is my own music on as high as it can go...unfortunately, things the way they currently are mean that the whole house is forced to listen with me and I'd love to be able to use it as a soothing mechanism that I don't have to subject the entire house to. The things they come up with equates to constantly listening to nails on a chalkboard for most and to say it's trying is an understatement.

I have been looking forward to Bluetooth!! I really prefer the small size of the portrait. I don't have room for the cameo.
