A while back there was a long thread about safe stamp storage at SCS. There were a few posts about dura-lar being the safest option. So since then I've been using it. The other day I noticed one of my stamps seems to have a weird film on it where it isn't sticky anymore. There's also a faint mar on the dura-lar where the stamp was. I'm at a loss now what to use. See the attached pic-you can see the cloudy part where it's no longer sticky. I tried washing it with dish soap, rubbing it with an eraser, on my jeans, and even tried scratching off the film. Nothing is working. I can still use the stamp since most of it's still sticky but I'm worried about it happening with my other clear stamps. So far I haven't noticed it happening on any others. This stamp is from My Favorite Things so I think it should be a good quality one. Attachments:

gale w That is interesting. I purchased a pack of duralar but haven't used it yet. Is that the only stamp that has an issue?

So far this is the only one. I suppose there's a chance it's a problem with the stamp itself but when I got it a couple weeks ago it wasn't like this.

Hmm I store all my photopolymer stamps on Duralar - have done for several years - and haven't noticed any issues.
That cloudy thing can happen when you peel a stamp off its backing when it's new - it's like a layer of the stamp has been pulled off (or got left behind on the original acetate). But I'll go through my stamps at the weekend and double check.

I also know it wasn't like this when I first put it on the dura lar. Hopefully it's just an anomaly with this one stamp and has nothing to do with the dura lar. It makes me nervous for my other sets though. Most are stored on the original backing but some are too big to fit in my storage system that way.
