I swear for every great thing technology brings us there is often things that aren't so great that go along with it. MD's office has an online source that has your records, appt's, etc. It's great when you want to look something up or can find out all is normal without waiting for a call.
Not so great when the lab results are a bit off and you know it and MD hasn't called yet. Results likely came in late yesterday so imagine the call is on today's agenda, but i'm already a bit worried. These are ds blood work results. He's 23, got sick a month ago and has been feeling off since. He finally got them to do blood work last week. Please say a prayer for him that the results are off because of whatever he had or that it's something simple. I'm a bit worried.

I'm so sorry you're going through the worry of waiting for more info. I hope it's not serious and that the call brings comforting news.

(((Hugs)))) good thoughts and prayers.
I think that it is okay to call the office and ask to speak to the nurse and then let her know that you concerned about the results. She won't be able to say anything to you about them, I am guessing, but she may be able to tell you when the doc typically makes his/her calls and also let the doc know that you are waiting on the call.

Your son is 23. They will call his number unless he gave a written release that you are to be notified and his results discussed with you. I assume he gave you the password to his online records? Hopefully it is nothing, but HE should be calling, right?

I recently had some tests done and found out that the lab/person reading the test, sends it to the physician, not the online portal. Once the physician reads the results he/she sends it to the portal or chooses not to send it.
For example, I had blood work and an internal ultrasound done. The lab results were published online and showed normal results with a few things to "keep an eye on". I received a call to come in for the ultrasound and the results were not posted online. Once I went in for the appointment and discussed things with my doctor the results were posted in my online portal. (It wasn't a great big deal and we just tried some medicine to resolve some issues, but I'm fine.)
Anyway, she told me that they don't put things out into the portal unless it's normal or very minor.
I would assume that's a standard medical practice(?). I hope everything is ok with your son.

Both of my girls have had results that were flagged in the portal but the doctor ended up saying they were normal. I have had myself worked up thinking they have cancer. My sister is a pediatrician so I asked her one time if they are flagged as on the high side and out of range how can they be normal. She said sometimes they are still within an acceptable range but a lot of time it is because one test (sometimes two)in and of itself being abnormal doesn't mean anything...it is the big picture with all of the labs.
However, that still doesn't reassure me when I log in and see a lab flagged. I still google it and convince myself that the doctor is wrong.

I hope your experience is the norm and they wouldn't have put it up had they had a lot of concerns about the results. I'm hoping they're just off because he was ill and that it's not something ongoing, but am concerned nonetheless. Your son is 23. They will call his number unless he gave a written release that you are to be notified and his results discussed with you. I assume he gave you the password to his online records? Hopefully it is nothing, but HE should be calling, right? He will get the call, HE got the results and told me about them (I do not have the password.) He is in charge of his health, but as his mother, I am concerned.

I recommend that he call the doctor's office so that results can be explained and a plan of treatment (if needed)can be started.

I can't speak for all places but where I work all results are posted on a 5 day hold so you don't have your results posted until after the doctor has reviewed them and called you. This said, normal ones tend to be posted faster so you have a better chance of catching those ones before your doctor calls.
