I've had this MacBook since October 2006 (yep - almost 10 years old!). In the last few months, it's started running a bit slower, dropping off the internet, etc.
More recently, it's saying that the AirPort isn't there, even though it's connected to WiFi so the internet won't load pages at all. I managed to do another full backup to an external this week. I have an appointment at the Genius Bar tomorrow.
I feel like they're going to tell me the Hard Drive needs to be replaced - but is it really worth it to do that to a 10 year old laptop? Or should I bite the bullet and get a new MacBook - the rose gold is so pretty - and so much more storage. My currently laptop has 80 GB which I had to move some pictures to an external (so it's full!); the new one I'm look at has 256GB!

If it's 10 years old, I'd say it's time for an upgrade. Even for a Mac, that's pretty old. Wait until you see what the new machines can do!
I would buy a new one with no guilt.

Absolutely buy a new one. You'll wonder why you didn't do it earlier! lol. But Macs sure do last a long time, don't they? Kind of like Hondas....I keep trying to get our mechanic (at the Honda dealer's) to say our two ancient Hondas need to be replaced but they keep telling me that both vehicles are mechanically in excellent shape. sigh... Macs are the same way. lol

Thanks - I saved back part of my tax refund this year thinking I'd have to get a new one. Plus my old laptop is only a 32 bit processor - some software won't even work on that anymore. LOL

Spend some time today looking over your options--size, processor, memory, etc. When you go in tomorrow, they will transfer everything to the new Mac. Although, you don't need an appointment to buy a new computer. Just walk in and they will be happy to help!

Had the same type of issues with my old one and replaced it - unfortunately even Mac's do need to be replaced occasionally!
Sounds like you are at that stage I'm sure you won't regret it.

I think you've well and truly got your money's worth. With a processor that old, I'd say it's time to replace it. I don't think it'd be worth trying to upgrade it.
