A friend of mine is between six and seven months and has a very large cyst. Doctor has said he's never seen one that big (contains over a liter of fluid). They've tried draining but it was too painful without an epidural. Dr. is now saying that she can't have a normal delivery because it will get in the way of the baby in the birth canal. Has anyone every experienced something like this?

My DIL had a large cyst when pregnant. It was scary, so I understand her worries. DIL was in labor for a long while, and it has never been explained clearly what happened, but she was rushed off for a c-section. I have always thought that it should have been a planned c-section, but they live in another country with different protocols.
I would recommend a planned c-section. I think the cyst impeded delivery, but it did not seem to negatively impact the baby.

I had one early in pregnancy. It was already an IUI baby so they had me on bedrest for 5 weeks until the cyst dissolved itself. I hope they recommend a scheduled C section for her just to be on safe side.

I have known two different women in this situation. One had surgery before the baby was born and the other had the cyst removed during her C-section. Both situations ended with healthy baby and mother.
