I feel like this is a completely crazy question, but hey it's one of those days... I have 2 dogs. The male had an upset stomach last week and one morning vomited a couple times, ate later in the day and was fine. Think he vomited again the next day, but again was fine and has been for several days now. He never acted lethargic or anything and was eating, acting normal so we carried on. Today our female just vomited a couple times. She's quieter in general so i'll keep an eye on her....but my crazy question of the day is can dogs have a stomach bug like humans and pass it to each other? I feel like it's crazy, but hey it's odd that they've both vomited a couple days apart now

I don't know if they get stomach bugs like people do, but mine get a lack of appetite "sickness" that sometimes causes vomiting a few times a year. It usually happens in the spring and fall - I've always just chalked it up to allergies or something growing in the yard at that time of they year that they've eaten to upset their tummies. Sometimes one will get it and another will have it a day or two later, sometimes not. I don't think it's a crazy question at all. As long as mine are still drinking, I don't start worrying until they've been a full 24 hours without food or they're vomiting continuously.

Our vet said something about there being a dog flu that has been going around this year and to be watchful for it. Not sure what the symptoms are but you could probably Google it and compare to what your pets are experiencing.

Or they both got into something and ate the same thing. My boys will do that sometimes.

Or they both got into something and ate the same thing. My boys will do that sometimes. That is the unlikely part of the scenario. Nothing interesting in their fenced area, no fertilizer or anything. And they're with me pretty much at all times, crated at night or when i'm not home. So it's likely something else. And I thought the first dog had the lack of appetite sickness that schizo319 mentioned. But my little piglet that vomited today ate breakfast. And of course she's looking for her dinner already

And of course she's looking for her dinner already That's the same with us--the boys are only outside when I am with them, the yard is fenced, no fertilizer, crated at night or when we are gone, etc. I find sometimes they eat too many leaves, branches, you name it. My large breed boys eat EVERYTHING. One time this happened they peeled the paint from a window seal. I was in the room, and it just took them a matter of seconds. One other owner had her two boys (same breed) eat the sheet rock in the kitchen. Crazy. I have to watch them like a hawk, and they still get away with some things quickly. Yep, I have two year olds in the house again. LOL!

Yes, they can get the flu. I have two dogs and it has happened to us a couple of times. Treat them basically like you would yourself - let them rest, lots of fluids and easy to digest food after their stomach has calmed down. If the vomiting becomes excessive then take them to the vet. They can give them some anti-vomiting meds.
Hope your fur babies feel better soon.

Yes, last year in April my golden retriever service dog was sick as a dog (no pun intended) and she was losing bodily fluids out both ends. She ended up on an IV and was better within a few days with the exception of a lighter diet of boiled chicken and rice which thrilled her to no end! Two days later my "play" golden retrieve woke me up in the middle of the night with the exact same symptoms. We caught hers earlier so she didn't need the IV but they both had the doggie stomach flu. Poor things!

I have five dogs and that's never happened to them so no advice here. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry your babies have been sick.

When you take your dog to a kennel, they have to be vaccinated (here they do). Dogs can get kennel cough and it spreads like crazy. I have two pups and they haven't shared an illness I have noticed in five years though. They did get into a family sized bag of chips one evening we were away and they proceeded to throw up 26 times, Apparently no dog can eat just one either. Just thankful my small(er) dog didn't get in the bag and suffocate himself.

Nine times out of ten, if one dog started vomiting, the other one would too.
Except the one time that one dog farted in the car and made the other one throw up.
