I think I've died and gone to heaven but I need some quick help
My 16 yo DS has NEVER had a group of friends over before. One at a time, yes but a whole group- never.
He came home from school and said 6 kids would be coming in 20 minutes. Is that OK.
Sure!
But now they are here and they are hungry and they want snacks. I've made popcorn and have brownies in the oven. What else can I make on short notice. No choc chip cookies because apparently no one make cookies like one of their moms

Is pizza delivery out of the question? That would be my first choice.

My ds (13) and his buddies are always hungry and seem to be hanging out here. They love my nachos -chips, salsa, covered in cheese and warmed until melted. Bagel bites are aslo a hit (pizza on mini bagels or pogos (corn dogs).

My son and his friends would eat anything. I use to take a whole loaf of bread made into pb&j sandwiches to his track meets. He had friends asking him if his mom was coming to the meets just because they wanted a sandwich.

Buttered pasta or fettuccini Alfredo if you have cream on hand. I've fed a ton kids with these.

I feel your pain. My 16 yo DS can put away food like a locust! I can't imagine having a group of them over although I did host a trumpet section sleepover one time for the guys.

You know, I NEVER EVER went to a friends house and expected tons of treats. I might have been hungry but I had to wait for dinner time like everyone else (if I was spending the night). Personally, I think popcorn and brownies is more than generous. If that's not enough then they are being terribly rude.

I would always be a friends homes and never expected food. Drink? Sure. If we did get hungry would we all chip in on something or just go through a drive thru. OP- what you provided was fine. I wouldn't go overboard.

If you can, order a pizza. Otherwise popcorn and brownies will suffice. I'm never good at having snacks on hand because my kids will go through them in 2 days. So I just don't buy them often. But if I know they are having friends over, I'll buy extras.

When a hoard of teen boys lands at our house, I have some standard go-to choices, and my son is fully capable of putting together quick meals for his friends. I don't think it's required, but I'm fine with feeding hungry kids. Usually they have busy schedules between school activities, sports, jobs, and if they want to eat at our house while working on their project or playing computer games, I'm good with that.
So readily available basics: grilled cheese and soup. soft tacos filled with rice, beans, leftover grilled veggies, cheese. bacon and eggs and toast pita chips veggies and hummus sloppy joes hot dogs or hamburgers out on the grill fruit plate
I don't do a lot of sweets, though I think your brownies sound awesome. I've found that the majority of the kids who come over are extremely health conscious and don't eat a lot of desert items.

I tell my teenage daughters that they have to tell me in advance if they are having a group of girls over. I need a grocery trip. But they will eat anything, so whatever I get the girls will eat and love! They are starving after school or dance.
With three daughters, are grocery bill is out of control!

I will have to keep that in mind when our hoard of teen girls come over! That's great that your son can cook. My daughter made dinner tonight. I tell her that she needs to learn in case she and her friends get a dorm with a kitchen.

When DS was in HS, this was us. A ton of kids and they are all hungry. Pancakes, quesadillas, PB & J, pizza bites, pasta, etc are all quick choices. He's home for the summer now and I making a commissary run tomorrow to stock up. I hear there are plans for the weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing all the kids again and find out what they are doing.

When my kids were home, I'd make them help me put things in the freezer for when their friends came over. I think they really enjoyed having bragging rights ('Mom made this and I halped' said Shake n Bake style LOL) An added benefit was they both learned how to take a little and make it go a long way.
One of their favorite dishes was tacos made with chicken cooked in salsa or Rotel, deboned and shredded. I'd buy the 10lb packs of chicken quarter, rinse them, then throw them in a crockpot with a jar of salsa and a couple teaspoons of cumin. That afternoon, after they cooked and cooled, we'd sit at the counter and debone and clean the chicken (removing all the skin, gristle, and veins.) Everything went int the fridge to cool, then I'd de fat the broth, cook it down a bit, and then portion and freeze the chicken. I'd also make a big pot of our version of Mexican rice (not as good as Oh Yvonne's) We always had shredded cheese and tortillas on hand, but I made sure that they were the smaller ones.
In no time I could have the chicken and rice packets thawed and the kids eating. The cheese was the most expensive part of the meal since the chicken quarters were usually about $0.35/lb. When parents asked what could their kids bring, I'd ask that they bring either a jar of cheap salsa or a can of Rotel or a bag of shredded cheese.

Sounds like you did well! Don't set the bar too high or you will feel the need to do it every time ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) When my son was still at home I would keep bagels and cream cheese, mac and cheese, frozen waffles, stuff for nachoes, fresh fruit, and ice and flavorings to make sno-cones (that always went over well). Chocolate milk by the gallon.... They were all very athletic and needed the calories!

My mom kept a stash of frozen Totino's pizzas for when my brothers' friends came over. They tasted like cardboard, but heck, those boys didn't care.

I used to just order lots of pizza. They eat it and then they eat the leftovers again later.
Layered chips, shredded cheese, black olives and salsa, baked, is also popular. And gallons of ice tea.

Every so often Publix will have them on sale 10 for $10 and I stock up. The boy seems to like them just fine and for a dollar, he can eat as many as he wants as often as he want.

My son always asked for Rice Krispy treats with extra marshmallow sauce stuff. They were best about 15 minutes after pulling them out of the oven still warm and gooey.

apparently no one make cookies like one of their moms And that would be when I offered nothing more for the rest of the night. yeah, I would find this off putting. We always have a ton of teenagers at our house. Never have I had any of them dictate what I should make, especially on the premise I couldn't possible make it good enough. These kids happily devour whatever I offer and tell me *I* make it the best ever-- which I know better, but they also know how to get me to keep offering ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg)
Once I made a crock pot mac and cheese recipe found on fb. It was disgusting. I was disappointed. My family was brutally honest but the guests claimed it was "good". It was not even close to good. It was a mushy, disgusting, bland mess. ROFL.
