Good morning ladies!! Happy Hump Day!! Been a busy week so far and it's not over yet! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I hope you're all doing well and staying on track. Since going back to a mostly whole foods diet since Monday, the scale has been slowly making it's way back down closer to 200. I really need to stay away from those processed foods in order to see results. Not TOO hard to do most of the time. And just like the first time, it's taken a couple of days to realize that I can feel just as satisfied and full without the white carbs at dinner time. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I'm off to do my workout here in just a few - way early for me. LOL But one of my dd's gets her braces today so I need to be ready earlier than normal. I hope you all have a great day! And I'm looking forward to all the new ladies that have joined us jumping in! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

I'm enjoying my last 3 days of school, but unfortunately not doing so well with my eating. The last two evenings I've come home from work and eaten everything in sight. No excuses; I just did it against all reason. Last night I was overstuffed and feeling poorly mentally and physically. I just need to remember that gross sensation when I'm tempted to eat a big old slice of buttered white bread toast (that was my particular downfall last night) brandy327, you are so right when you say that you feel satisfied, if not better, when you don't eat all those processed carbs at night.

Morning! Saw this before I have to leave for work. I'm SO ready for school to be over but it won't be 'til June 20 and I'm DYING! Not really, but man, I'm so ready for it to be over.
Ready to go with my meals today. My scale is up a bit, but I'm hoping it's because of the staff lunch yesterday. I'll be downing a ton of water today and getting my walk in so it should help. I'm also going to pop by the gym and see about scheduling a time with the "trainer" to get a weight routine down. Last time I did, he took one look at my size and took me to the "easy" side. I was annoyed, did the workout like 4 times and then gave it up. Seeing as I'm actually losing weight, I want to get the muscles toned to fill in the looser skin I'm starting to notice.
Ok...gotta go! Check in later!
Have a great day everyone!

Up way too early for summer vacation. I am taking my son to the zoo with some friends. Dd is morally against the zoo so we have to sneak away. Lol! I am going to pack my lunch to stay on track and save some cash. I went shopping yesterday and bought 3 pairs of shorts. Who am I? I have to say I love the rayon soft shorts. It is like wearing pajamas. Never thought I would wear shorts again in my life. The fan on our fridge is it, so hopefully the repairman can get it fixed. He is coming at 2:00. DS had a last minute schedule change, so now he had a game tonight. Baseball at 7:00. Dh is out of town, so hopefully I can get a run in while he is warming up. Otherwise it will be a no workout day for me. Okay, off to get ready! Have a wonderful day ladies! missfrenchjessica June 20th is insane! tuesdaysgone Enjoy! The kids are so fun the last few days!

Our last day of school is June 22nd so I feel your pain!
Yesterday was a pretty good day. Still no exercise, but my eating was much better. Tonight my son is playing the National Anthem at a minor league game. I already have taco salad ready to go so I'm not tempted with the concession stands.
Hope everyone has a good Wednesday! It is that much closer to a long holiday weekend!

Discussion question....
When is it time to let go of the old clothes? I currently have them boxed in the attic. I hope to God to never be back to that size, but it is so hard to get rid of things I once loved.

I hope to God to never be back to that size, but it is so hard to get rid of things I once loved. I struggle with this a bit. It took me quite a few years to get rid of my big, big sizes (we're talking 30s and 32s). And it probably took me equally as long to get rid of the next sizes down. It's almost like I need to maintain that new size for at least 2-3 years before I'll get rid of the clothes. I did take a big leap a few months ago and got rid of a LOT of my size 20s. I'm currently between a 14 and a 16. Honestly, the 14s would fit well but due to the excess skin, the 16s are a little more comfortable. Anyway, I seem to hold onto things for 2-3 years until I'm sure I'm NOT going to gain the weight back.

Oh my goodness! Ending school towards the end of June is terrible. I am so sorry ladies. Wow!
And as far as letting clothes go, I let them go after losing my weight last time but kept one pair of pants, a couple of skirts, etc. I don't ever want to go back to those sizes either--ever. BUT this time I am going to keep 6-12 sizes. I pray I don't need the larger sizes again but I have some really nice pants that I don't want to let go.
And have walked a doggy already and have 6,439 steps in already this morning. Hoping hubby will get off work in time to pick up Subway for dinner. Then I have laundry and fun around here today. Oh, and I guess I should pay bills today too. Ick!
Enjoy the day everyone!

I got my workout in at 6am and let me just say that early is NOT for me. LOL Although maybe it worked well because I felt half asleep. I did W3D1 of the C25K program...and it was walk for 5 mins, 90 seconds of running, 90 seconds of walking, 3 mins of jogging. And I did it!!! WOOHOO! 3 whole mins with only a 90 second recoop. I think it's the same for the other 2 days of week 3.

I have always kept a selection of sizes in all my favorite styles. Over the past two years, I have become much more quick to let things go-- usually after I have to replace the jeans with a smaller size, I put the old pair in my donation bag and every couple of months, I donate. I am acting as if there is no option for me but to continue to succeed. I'm not always 100% sure of that in my mind, but I have been on this journey for several years and have had kept weight off for a while. Even though I am a slow loser, knowing all the sizes I have cycled through motivates me. And I'm working just as hard on my self-talk as I am my outer body! Always a work in progress!! brandy327 I totally understand how you are feeling about the photo-- and you looked so happy and carefree in the pic! You do look slim and fit! We are so hard on ourselves and I agree with AN that we are sometimes stuck with weird goggles that distort everything. I guess this is all part of the journey. Glad we are on it together!!

TankTop yay for buying shorts! Being comfortable in shorts is one of my goals. I haven't worn shorts much in public for years. I have gotten a pair here and there the last few years because we have tournaments that are super hot but otherwise don't wear them. DH says they look fine but I worry that my legs look too rippled, for lack of a better word. I think if I stick with the workouts it won't take long to want to wear them in public. As for clothes...I think I would keep things that I love if they are only 1-2 sizes too big now. Otherwise, let them go. You have been consistent with your diet and exercise for a long time now and don't seem like you will go back to where you were.

Oh and another thing about the running...every time that I've tried to run before, after just 30-60 seconds of running the muscles/tendons/whatever it is that runs over the top of your foot into your lower leg would hurt SO much and I'd have to stop. Losing 40 lbs has made the difference...that hasn't hurt at all since starting this program. I'm curious to see once I get beyond a few mins of running if that will return. Either way, I've never had it NOT hurt before so that's promising!!
And thanks to all of you who've responded about my photo from yesterday. It really is hard sometimes to see not see all negatives...I really need to focus on the positives. I ran the stairs...twice. At 350 lbs, I wouldn't have even been able to walk them let alone run them...nor would I have even considered it. I was able to walk around the ENTIRE day and keep up with my family and friends. And while I didn't eat the greatest while we were there, I also didn't cave to ANY of the concession stand foods and could've done much worse.

brandy327 Great job! As I've said before- I bow down to runners.
TankTop To answer your question, I think maybe keep a few pieces. Could you have anything that you love altered? My closet has 6's, 4's, and 2's- yeah Talbot's and their vanity sizing- 2's -right... But I just get rid of things that I don't like and will never wear again, regardless of size. Unless, it's tops- I toss all of those that hang on me or make me look bigger. Going back to the boobs, its hard to find something these things will fit into and not swallow the rest of me- so it's a constant struggle.
Waiting on AT&T... Made the yearly "going to cancel" call yesterday- what a pain. I have 2 TV's, home phone, and internet- oh and a cell, too. Bill jumped from $202 to $242 per month. She started looking for promos and listen to this- found one for $201/month. But here's the kicker- I have to add a second line to my home phone to get it lowered. Of course, a tech has to come out. I only kept the home phone all of these years, because it was going to cost more to get rid of it. What a joke to have to play the game!
I do have training today-supposed to change workouts. I hope so, I am bored!

Discussion question.... When is it time to let go of the old clothes? I currently have them boxed in the attic. I hope to God to never be back to that size, but it is so hard to get rid of things I once loved. I've been getting rid of things almost immediately. That is my personality though, I hate "clutter" and visual reminders of things I'm not using, and I'm quick to make decisions (sometimes too quick). I have a box in the closet I throw things in as they don't fit, and give to a friend or charity as soon as the box is full. The sizes we are talking about are a size I wouldn't be ok with returning to though, I think it is a little different if you're talking about being in a size 6 and deciding what to do with size 8. As you age or if something health-wise changes, you might be ok with getting in that size. I actually got rid of all my smaller clothes too about a year and a half ago, and while it would be nice to have those to "shop" in now, I hated having that reminder around. For me, it's worth the money to just buy new things/consignment store things than store those extra sizes. 2 things that helped me: - Even if you do keep items, there is a good chance they won't be in style or won't fit your body right if you get to that size again (up or down). Your body changes as you age and a certain cut size 8 that fit at 35 might not fit at 45. - Look at stores as a "storage unit." They store all kinds of things there for you, for free for as long as you need. When you do need something out of storage, there is a modest retrieval fee (the price of the item). If it would cost you $500 to get a new one of whatever you are thinking of getting rid of, yeah, maybe you want to sit on it. But a $10 tank top? Let the store use their space to "store" that for you, and you can get a new one if you ever need it. I've also heard the rule that if you can replace it in less than an hour and for less than $20, get rid of it if you aren't actively using it. I will admit I try things on a few times before I put them in the giveaway box. If I put a piece on 3 or 4 times and take it off because it doesn't fit right, then it is time for the box. I have very very few clothes right now. I have to try on everything when I pack for trips, which is annoying because I travel like twice a month. But having clothes that don't fit in the closet doesn't actually give me more options, it just annoys me and makes it harder to find what does fit.

I got the munchies last night and ate too much, but am trying to make up for it today by having a smoothie for lunch and running and bicycling.
any fitbit charge users? I just checked out the new dashboard-I love it! I am also listening to an audio book while running-it's called "Born to Run" and I am LOVING it. so motivating and the science is so interesting. it's a little dry in parts (especially towards the beginning) but I am learning so much and hearing about all these really fantastic athletes is so cool

My husband and kid are both sick. DH has bronchitis and a sinus infection and so far DS is just dealing with a cold. Hopefully his won't get worse since he only has a few more days of school and really doesn't want to miss them. I hope I don't get it - I have a 5K to run Saturday.
I need to walk my dog more. Since I have been running I forget to take her out and she has gained 4 lbs in 6 months. I got scolded by the vet this morning. Poor fat dog! She has 2 repaired knees so I can't run with her - walking is as good as it gets.

I'm not nearly where everyone else is with my health or fitness, but thought I would jump in again this week At work we are doing really well at walking for 15 minutes at least twice a day. Some days we are able to get in 3 or 4 walks so that feels good. We keep adding people to our group/groups which also feels good. It's nice for both our mental and physical health! I shared last weeks first dog training class so I thought I would let everyone know that class two was last night. It wasn't nearly as difficult ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I think in part because I have been trying to up my movement with more walks and I have been practicing my short running bursts. But we also didn't do as much running last night, we were working on other techniques. But I'm going to take another class tomorrow night at a different facility, so two classes in one week can't be too bad ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Today I'm working from home which we all laugh about how few steps we get in when it's our work from home day. So I made sure I walked on my 15 minute break this morning.

I have gone down two sizes since January and at first I considered hanging onto some of the big big stuff but figured it would do more use at the shelter than in a box. I have kept 4 pair of pants one size up...just in case I slip up for a short time.

I have been struggling with my at home walking because of my dog. He is a PITA to walk because he pulls, he wants to stop and mark or sniff, you know just the normal dog walking stuff. I like to do part dog walk, where he can sniff and mark, part training walk and part me walk, but it's still kind of annoying My coworker that is getting over 20,000 steps a day said she decided she had to do what's best for her and she isn't taking her dogs on all her walks. She said she makes one walk a day a dog walk, so I'm trying to do the same ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Our GSD gained weight over the winter, she got up to 77 lbs, which is very plump for her. She is lucky and loses weight fairly quickly and easily and we were able to get her back to her nice 70 lb weight. Too bad we all can't lose it like she does!!

Hey everyone! At the gym waiting for DD to finish CrossFit Kids. I did the regular class today and PR'd my deadlift by 10 pounds--I haven't done that in about 2 years! The workout was alternating minute long all out effort on the assault bike and the rower. One minute on, 4 minutes off. After the deadlifts my legs are toast! Regarding TankTop's question...I go through spurts. I lost a bunch of weight when I got divorced and got rid of most of my bigger sizes (for me that was 16s and 14s). Once I really got settled into CrossFit and lifting though I've been a solid 8, sometimes I creep into a 10 but right now I tend to be more of a 6/8. I got rid of alllll my bigger sizes. They just don't invoke good feelings and they take up space. So off they go. I want to know where you found shorts too!

If I've learned anything over my 13+ year weight loss journey is that you cannot compare yourself to anyone else. Great job with the walks! Those short walks add up in calories burn AND building up endurance!! Keep up the great work!!

Just a quick check in - took dd#1 (the one on the right in my siggy pic) to get her top braces today. Poor girl didn't even have them on for 30 mins and the very back bracket popped off while we were eating lunch. I took her back to the office but they were gone for lunch and weren't coming back until 2 (this was at a little after noon). The office we went to wasn't our normal office and was farther away so we couldn't stick around until 2...so they told me to take a pair of fingernail clippers and clip the wire close to the next bracket up. Ummm, it was in the VERY back of her mouth. You should've seen me trying to use a pair of baby fingernail clippers trying to clip that wire!! I finally got it though. They're going to fix it at her next appt in 2 weeks. She was doing pretty well but then around 3:30 when she was getting ready for soccer practice, she started voicing that her mouth hurt a lot. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) She took 2 Advil before she went to the appt and she took more just before practice. I imagine by the time they get home here in 30 mins, she'll be one hurting puppy. I made her what she wanted for dinner (shepherds pie) so hopefully she'll be able to eat it. If not, there's chocolate pudding and ice cream. Made sure to have both for her. I've done great with food today. I swear the week after my period ends, I ROCK the food portion of this health thing. I had a Kind bar for breakfast, lunch was a turkey & ham salad from Subway with light italian dressing. Afternoon snack was 2 slices of roast beef, a babybel cheese wedge and some popcorn. I just realized typing that all out that all of those were high in sodium. Darn it. I try to stay away from lunch meat but I was out with dd and didn't feel like chicken since I had it last night and I'll be having it again. Oh well. Dinner for me is leftovers from last night - chicken and broccoli. I LOVE shepherds pie but I have portion issues with it so I'm not going even tempt myself with it.

@gmcwife, step by step! I signed up for a work out place in Feb. That first week, I couldn't even raise my arms above my head and that was just for a stretch! I used the lowest weights for everything and sometimes did the exercises without weights. I dreaded the rowers in class. 100 meters killed me. I now do 100 m in 30 seconds or less. It's no big deal now which is crazy! I am proud of myself for getting up and taking 2 exercise classes today on the beach. I took a 45 minute cardio class and then a 45 min combo TRX and kettle bell class. Tomorrow, we are going to Pearl Harbor so I may just try the gym. Friday is a full day tour of the island, so I probably won't work out then. This is SOOO different for me. I rarely ever work out on vacation. Hoping this will keep my metabolism up while we indulge a little food wise. I normally don't drink, but was not going to say no to the pina colada we shared at dinner last night.

Ladies, it's the last day of school and I'm joining you now. Goal is to get sweaty every day and eat clean with limited (but not extremely low) carbs. I've been making green smoothies in the morning and upping my lean protein and veggies.
Looking forward to lots of advice from you guys!

You don't need to be where everyone else is with your health and fitness. You are where you are and you're taking the steps to improve those things. Girl, when I weighed 350 lbs the ONLY exercise I could do was the Wii Fit step workout. I did 15-20 mins a day for at least a month before I could even do as little as increase my time. It takes time. If I've learned anything over my 13+ year weight loss journey is that you cannot compare yourself to anyone else. Great job with the walks! Those short walks add up in calories burn AND building up endurance!! Keep up the great work!! Thank you ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/ctVZXPi0JhYokjQoy34u.jpg) We need flowers, not chocolate in our smilie options I do think I enjoy the dog classes much more than I enjoy going to a gym or more traditional type exercising. It doesn't seem like exercising when I'm working on other things ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

Read this article ladies. It's a good one and really resonates with me as we're getting ready to set up the pool and start making our treks to the ocean.

littlefish Congrats! I'm hoping I can do deadlifts again. I stopped because of my back. Maybe this trainer can show me the proper technique.
gmcwife1 You've started- that's all that matters.
brandy327 Great article! I know your DD is thrilled!
