That's awesome!
Does your area have a school to work alliance program? Ours helps kids on IEPs until they are 26 when the division of vocational rehab takes over

Ours helps kids on IEPs until they are 26 when the division of vocational rehab takes over We have something along those lines but I don't know much about it. When we turned 16 we had a transitional meeting that covered high school, post high school plans and most likely he will be able to graduate. At first we were told he wouldn't graduate but after having a very successful freshman year, they changed his track to graduation (instead of diploma).
Apparently the way our county works are the kids who are on the diploma track get more vocational services which means he won't get them. We will meet each year (different then his annual IEP meeting) to see if he is still on graduate track. I guess I need to get more proactive about all this and see what he does and does not qualify for.

DS has such an awesome support network at school and home. He really does have a village raising him and I am so grateful for that cause there are times when I fail at parenting him. You've never failed him as a parent!! You gave him a home and love and a family.

Congratulations to your son, it sounds like a great job. Actually, it sounds like it could be too much fun to be a job! And best of all, it's close enough that you don't have to drive him every day!

That is awesome for him! We have found in our area that it is really challenging to find a job if you're under 18. I would love for my 16-year old to have a job this summer, but that probably won't happen until next year.
