After several days of encouragement and assistance, Twister is now going down the steps by himself again. Yay!
We have a new problem though. Just since this morning, he reeks like dirty socks. He has always smelled like a dog, of course, but this is definitely different. It is a very strong, very distinctive odor. Googling made me think it could be an ear infection, but the smell isn't coming from his ears. He hasn't gotten into anything, as far as we know, and has been recently bathed. Any ideas?
Or vet closes early on Wednesdays, but I'll probably call tomorrow if nothing changes.

Aw, poor guy. Does it look like one or both of his ears are dirty? It probably is an ear infection. I'd call now. Tomorrow is a long time to wait and if he starts scratching that ear, it will take longer to heal.
But yay for the stairs!

Does sound like some sort of yeast infection. It has that smell. Glad he's finally using the stairs.

Check him over really well for any evidence of skin irritation, we had a dog that got FUNKY when her skin allergies started acting up.
