I am so excited for my oldest DD. She decided to join the color guard (she has already spent 3 years in Winterguard) which participates in parade band and she is now talking about trying out for field band! She has so many more guts than I did at her age and I'm so proud of her. This coming Saturday is her first performance as part of a such large group and it's all she can talk about. I didn't realize what huge doors this will open up for her in the coming years, both in school and out.
christine58, we'll be at Darien Lake and it's supposed to be a scorcher .
Just had to share!

My DD did band for 4 years and my son will be doing it for 5 (was allowed as an 8th grader). They both love it. In fact, our director now has an orchestra at the local college that non-students can be part of so DD is excited about joining that!

I participated in marching band for 5 years and (starting in college) was an instructor for the same band for several years. I made SO many happy memories and good friends in band. It's a big time commitment for both kids and parents, but my parents never minded because it kept us so busy that we didn't have time to get in trouble ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Maybe I'll see you at the Dome next October for the NYSFBC championships!

Awesome! I did eight years of colorguard in HS and college. It was amazing. I'm so grateful for those years. Even met my DH in college marching band.

I love being a band mom! You'll likely enjoy it as much as your DD.

Welcome!!' We are in our 6th year. We had three in for two years, a lot of $$$$. But worth it. I have a guard member this year. We started with clarinet. Had an Honor Guar, ending with color guard. We pull the trailer to all the parades and go on trips with them. We have a great group of kids!

I have technically been a band mom since DD#2 is in middle school band, but I am stoked for high school band with marching season and football games. I was in color guard in HS and loved games and such, so I get to relive the excitement. LOL

Yeah for band kids! My son has played trombone since 4th grade and played his 3 years in middle school (regular bend, festival, and jazz band). He is doing band and marching band in the fall in high school and last night he went to his first high school band picnic. We have a HUGE rock n roll revival show each year and he wants to try out for the band for that as well. Looking forward to seeing him March and play

ODS plays the euphonium in his HS band and marching band. He's been playing since 6th grade and absolutely loves it. Football season is so much fun. School isn't quite over here, but he's already looking forward to band camp starting up at the beginning of August. The kids all have such a great time together. The annual band picnic is next week. The band travels to Disney World in January. They are all buzzing with excitement about it.
