Good morning ladies!! I hope you all had a wonderfully relaxing holiday weekend! How'd everyone do with their eating this weekend? My weekend was exhausting with soccer but well worth it. Our girls played 3 regular games and won all 3 and then won the semi-final game and in the end won the championship game!! It was an amazing weekend!! We were the only team from our club to win first - our U17 girls won first last year but only made second this year. None of the other teams even made it to the semi-finals. So it was pretty exciting. My girlies - And my favorite pic of the day! The girls had been practicing right before the final game when one girl called the rest over. They started the "we believe...we believe that we will win" chant. So I stuck my phone into the circle with the timer set and snagged this one. Now for the weekend eating...I actually did pretty well for Saturday and Sunday. I packed all our food and snacks. I did have about 1/4 cup of ice cream on Saturday when it was 95 degrees out. But otherwise I stuck to my planned meals. Sunday was pretty good with eating too except I didn't really eat dinner because we didn't make it home until almost 9pm. Yesterday I did really well for most of the day but we had italian sausages for dinner and I had it with a bun (which I typically don't do) AND Doritos. 2 servings. I logged everything and went over my calories by a couple of hundred. First time I've done that in 6 months I think. But I didn't feel guilty and I've already moved on. LOL My official weigh in was yesterday and I'm down 3.4 lbs from the previous week. I was 200.6. So I'm ALMOST back to one hundreds again...although the scale was up a bit this morning after yesterday's less than stellar eating day. My plan is to be right back on track today and drink LOTS of water. Today's eating should be interesting...I manged to make it all weekend putting sunscreen on and avoiding getting sunburned, even on Saturday when it was 95. Yesterday the day started off raining - like torrential downpours for the girls' first game. By the time their final game rolled around a little before noon, the rain had mostly stopped but it still wasn't really sunny. We had to stick around for a little bit for the awards ceremony and then watched our U17 girls finish their game and by then the sun HAD come out full force. Annnndddddd no sunscreen - sunburned lips. OMG, it looks like I've had botox. They're puffy and red. I'm praying they don't blister. Anyway, I hope you ladies have had a great holiday weekend and are strong coming into this week!! I know you can do it!!

brandy327 those are great pictures! Also glad to hear you had a good eating weekend. I did pretty well this weekend mostly due to the fact that DH worked the entire long weekend and so I was home alone. I don't cook meals if I'm alone, so I ate carefully. The scale has stubbornly stayed in one place the last couple weeks, so I'm not going to weigh in until Friday. I did hours of yard work this weekend and that felt really good. I felt strong all weekend (and a bit sore this morning). I have three days of post planning this week and then I'll be my own boss for the summer. I like walking early in the morning when it's still cool and in just days I can be back in that routine.

What a great weekend brandy327, and LOVE the photos!!! Congrats to your girls and the team. tuesdaysgone, I don't cook for myself either. That's when I tend to snack badly though (when hubby is gone). I gained 3 lbs. on vacation but lost 3.2 lbs. as of yesterday. So, I am basically back where I started before vacation--down 26.4 lbs. Now I am hoping I can meet my next mini goal of a 30 lb. loss in the next couple of weeks. Not sure what today holds. Waiting to hear from DD's cardiologist. We thought she was going to be rehospitalized but now I think it may just be testing hopefully. She had some things going on Friday, and they were concerned. Definitely a roller coaster. Have a great day everyone!

I had a great long weekend! Friday I started with some lap swim. Saturday, I ran in the morning and then had the crazy idea to go on my "long" run at noon. Not my brightest idea. Ended up having a decent run, despite the heat and humidity. Caught up with a friend and we ran together for part of it. Sunday, I had a swim lesson and then spent the afternoon lounging at the pool. Yesterday, I ran in a one mile race. First time I've ever done a one-miler. It was an uphill course, so it was tougher than I thought it would be! I didn't do as well as I anticipated but was able to finish strong. Ended up winning my age group. I couldn't believe it!

Great pic, brandy! We had a very busy weekend. On Saturday I spent the day cleaning and organizing since we switched the kids' rooms around. I am also going full force in getting things ready for the garage sale. Sunday we went to a Barbeque and I ate too much. Yesterday I did yard work and worked on cleaning again. Gained 3 lbs this weekend. . Story of my life. I have no leeway in what I can eat without gaining. I am also expecting my period this week so will probably see another rise in weight. On a positive note, I am done with day 16 of BBM 5.0. Haven't lost any weight yet or inches.

I can't believe how big your girls are, Brandy!
Our weekend was quiet. ODS has his last week of school this week, including a full schedule of finals. He said he just wanted to hang out and do nothing. So, that's what we mostly did. YDS and I walked to a couple playgrounds near our house to burn some of his 5 year old energy, but otherwise, not much was done. I did fine with eating. My big weakness is snacking when bored or at my desk at work. My food success -- I made banana bread yesterday to clear out some over ripe bananas, had one slice for quality control, and sent the rest to work with DH last night.
Today was BBM Day 8 for me. My body tends to initially tone fast and then plateau in a very annoying way. I'm feeling some differences in my arms and hips already. Last week was rough with the soreness. I raised my office chair at work so that I didn't have to sit down so far to get in it. That's awful! After a day off, I'm feeling better and back to it.

I overate on Saturday and Sunday but got TONS of exercise. I am still loving my minimalist running and hope to increase my mileage to 5 miles starting tomorrow started my period today, so probably wont weigh myself this week as I feel bloated and horrible, LOL congrats for everyone doing so well and those photos are great Brandy!

I have been doing so well, I spoiled myself for the holiday but was ok with. The only thing was my body wasn't!!! Does anyone else have bad reactions to junk food after cutting them out for awhile? Man did I have major regrets later that day lol.
I was also wondering if anyone notices a weight loss correlation and amount of sleep? I've realized that all work-week long when I get 5 to 6 hours of sleep I get minimal or no weight loss at all. Then on weekends when I get 8+ hours of sleep I drop over 2 pounds! I think I'm gradually losing the weight, but not seeing it until I get decent sleep. Strange. (yes, I am a daily weigher, it makes me feel better so I do it.)

Brandy I love that huddle picture - that would be a great picture blown up on a canvas!
This week is my busiest week of the whole year. I can't even tell you how long my to-do list is at work. I'm already planning on working through the weekend just to meet my June 6th deadlines.
On top of work I have last few days of DS's school (which the way he is acting he may not make it to the end of the week...grrrrr).
Weigh In was today...stayed the same as last week. Was hoping for a loss but nope...hopefully next week.

One of my not so great choices yesterday was to have 2 desserts. I had an ice cream cookie sandwich earlier in the afternoon and after dinner I had a Magnum double caramel ice cream bar thing. It tasted SOOOO good when I ate them but a couple of hours after having that second one? Eh, not feeling so great. And fried foods? Fried foods haven't been a regular part of my diet in 13 years...sometimes I can get away with it if I eat one single meal of fried foods. More than that and it KILLS me. I haven't seen the correlation of weight loss and sleep...mostly because I rarely get 8 hours of sleep. LOL During the week I run on about 5-6, like you. Weekends it's the same unless by some rare chance, we don't have soccer or other commitments. Even then it's probably 7-8.

I got my Week 3, Day 3 of the C25K program done today. I told my dh last night AND again this morning that I was NOT working out today...that I was exhausted from the weekend. But in the end, I couldn't justify skipping...I hadn't worked out since last Thursday so I NEEDED to. I'm glad I did it.
As I was sitting here eating lunch, I realized that I ate really quickly. Now, typically, by the time a meal rolls around, I'm hungry. But I'd say on average, a regular sized meal, I'll eat in about 10-15 mins. I have one dd that's a very slow eater. She talks a lot, doesn't rush, etc. My MIL cannot eat quickly at all as she has dentures and a difficult time chewing. I'd say MOST times, I'm the first to finish eating.
I'm just curious where all of you are with that? I haven't really studied anyone else's eating habits since I dine most often with my dh and kids but I know that my dad (who was obese his entire life) and my uncle (dad's brother was super morbidly obese and died due to complications from that) both ate VERY quickly. For my dad, he always blamed it on the fact that he worked a factory type of job where you only had 20 mins to heat up and eat a meal. And my FIL basically said the same thing...he was also an overweight guy. What are your thoughts on how quickly you eat vs your weight?

brandy327 Congrats to your girls!
scrappyoutlaw Yes- sleep does play a part in weight loss. There's tons of research on it.
I did pretty good over the weekend. The only "bad" thing was the cream cheesy dessert I made up. I used unsweetened coconut, almonds, tiny bit of oats and coconut oil to keep it all together -for a crust. Then I blended a block of cream cheese, a cup of homemade whipped cream, and pureed strawberries- with a teeny bit of honey. Put that on top of crust and refrigerated. It wasn't really sweet, but it made me feel like I was eating dessert. It was high in fat, but nothing else.
I have to be weighed and measured at the end of week- hard to believe I've been doing this training for almost a month. I have picked up a few different exercises, but I honestly think I work just as hard by myself. We'll see...
Have a good day ladies!

brandy327 You're supposed to chew, chew, chew which makes you eat slower. I don't inhale my food, but I think I do eat too fast. So many rules to follow- why can't we just eat and not gain weight???

brandy327, I have never seen a correlation between eating time and weight in our family or extended family. Hubby is a very fast eater (always first done). He weighs maybe 150 and is 5' 11". My grandmother was a slow, slow eater and weighed maybe 95 lbs. I eat inbetween, and it never has effected my weight that I know of. My dad was always very fit and healthy running every single day but can't remember how fast he ate. Now he eats slower but is overweight and no longer is able to run due to back and hip issues. Anyway, there is a small snapshot of our family's eating.

My DH is a very fast eater - he inhales food and he is overweight. I don't know if there is a correlation to weight and speed of eating. His mom eats very slow but she is also overweight. I have heard you will feel more full if you eat slower.
I think I'm a normal paced eater.

I think eating quickly causes us to overeat - your stomach doesn't have time to register that it's full so you eat past the point of satiety. I'm trying really hard to eat mindfully (no watching TV/being on computer or phone while eating) and slow down. And then get up right away to trash the leftovers (or put them away) when I feel full. Lunches are harder for slow eating during the school year because I'm so limited on time - but I'm also limited by what I bring with me to eat. We're doing clean eating/semi-paleo so not necessarily counting calories. It's worked well for me before. The hard part is that it's extremely time-intensive. I'm hoping to get into some routines over the summer that make things easier for me after school starts.

Ok, NSV for me--just got home from dropping my one twin at baseball cages. Should normally take me about 15-20 minutes. OVER AN HOUR LATER I'm finally home. Apparently the slow down was FOUR freakin' accidents on the northbound lane which is what I need to take to get home. OMG!
NSV? I didn't come home and eat everything in sight! Instead, I toasted my 100 cal bagel thin, spread on some avocado, sliced tomato, and some smoked salmon with grapes on the side and ate dinner.
Today's just been a wonky day from the get go. Had to help my dd sew her elastic and ribbons on her pointe shoes, got a call from a friend that her sister was in labor; could I take her son to school...she made me later than I was already running. My students were all over the place today and I banged my baby toe on a chair at my ds's speech therapy appointment--it frickin' hurts like a son of a gun! It hurts and is swollen--so not only do I have plantar fascitiius, now I have the stupid toe hurting as well! Not to mention I've got a pile of grading I just don't want to look at!
Thankfully, my eating's been in check today, but man! That traffic was the cherry on the sundae it seems!

I definitely think how fast you eat can affect how much you eat. My DS (10yo) who is overweight (tall for his age as well) eats VERY fast. He chews really fast and I can tell that he hasn't completely chewed his food whe he swallows. I have talked to him about slowing down many, many times but it never makes a difference. I eat fast as well since I am always eating on the run, but am trying to slow down, especially when eating something that is more of a "treat".
