Last night turned into a taco night. Tonight is a complete mystery. I just cannot make a choice. I'll let you know when an idea becomes available. My brain is in the off position today. What's on your menu? Have a great day everyone. lucyg, hope you have a much better day today.

Yesterday brought me a surprise quickie visit from my son who was returning home to SC after a 7-week temporary work assignment in NJ due to the Verizon strike. So, instead of leftover pot pie, we had pizza. Maybe the pot pie will get eaten tonight. Along with the ice cream and strawberries that no one wanted last night either!
Tomorrow we're off to NC for my brother's annual pig pickin' weekend so I'll be missing in action here until next week. Have a great, tasty weekend everyone!

I just want a frozen pizza tonight. I'll cut up artichoke hearts and black olives and spread them on it and call it a day. I am knee/arm deep into cleaning out my scrap/craft room. UGH. Who collects such crap?
Thanks for the thread. I'm going to take my breaks and see what deliciousness others will post. Ice cream, maybe?

Today is the last day of school. The tradition is we hit the beach once school gets out. Oldest ds has a friend joining us and spending the night, so, I'm planning something easy and filling (3 boys who will have spent several hours on the beach in the ocean, you know that means they'll eat everything that's not bolted down). I'm going to make ground beef and turkey baked ziti, with salad and ice-cream for dessert as a treat.

I'm on my own tonight!! I'll pick something up on my way home. Maybe a primavera pizza from the place that doesn't deliver.

marianne , have a great week with your brother. Can you please tell us what pig pickin' means? Thanks, scrapmaven - it'll only be a long weekend but we'll have fun, we always do. Basically, it's a just a big ol' bbq party. He used to roast a whole pig and then people could just "pick" meat off the pig throughout the day, and make Carolina bbq with it. Now, he just provides the bbq already made, roast chickens, corn on the cob, drinks, etc. and everyone brings a dish of some sort... kind of a potluck southern style. I'm looking forward to seeing my grands and great-grands, along with some of my nieces and nephews, and my son again! Friends and family get together and we have a good ol' time.

Pig pickin'? you must tell us what that is! Still hot here, so when DD wanted "fiskegrateng", I almost cried. It's too hot to cook, but it is her favourite meal, and there was som cod in the freezer, so fiskegrateng it is. Strawberries, watermelon and ice cream for dessert, so at least I felt better after the meal eta: Pig pickin' sure sounds like fun.

I never got around to making the chicken soup last night (I had a big snack with the 7yo and the other kid that was here in the afternoon), so it's chicken soup (again) tonight (hopefully). ha ha scrapmaven, thanks for the good thoughts. Yesterday was actually quite nice. Life has calmed way, WAY down here.

Today is DH's birthday, so he gets to pick what's for dinner. I think we're going to a recently opened cafe in our neighborhood that serves the best Reuben sandwich DH says he's ever tasted. Local farmers and bakeries are the restaurant's suppliers, so everything tastes fresh and amazing.
The saurkraut recipe for the Reuben comes from the owner's German grandma and is made on site. I know all this because DH complimented the sandwich the last time we were there (last Wednesday for lunch - ha!) and the owner chatted him up for awhile. It was pretty cool getting to know where our food came from!

I've suggested grilled chicken, roasted potatoes, and sauteed veggies. It hasn't been vetoed yet.

Umm not sure, I haven't cooked all week. ( left overs ) and haven't gone shopping either. So my choices are frozen meatballs or chicken or hamburgers. Since its beautiful out maybe I'll cook those burgers and grill some veggies to go with. That way I don't heat up the house.

I'm just back from lunch with a friend. I had a tomato/cheese/basil flatbread that was tasty. I'll stick to watermelon tonight. DH will have a choice between hot dogs (no cooking for me) or some stir fry and rice.

I think I'm going to fix broccoli/yam/rice bowl with miso sesame dressing. I'm not really hungry because DH was in town and came home for lunch - a blue cheese burger. It was pretty filling!

I'm away in Myrtle Beach for a work trip and someone told me I HAD to go to the Chesapeake House. Man. Oh man. Oh man oh man. First they brought out a basket of hot hush puppies and cinnamon rolls. Then they brought out a small cup of their homemade fish stew. (This is before I even ordered!). The stew was freaking amazing. I ordered the fried shrimp and their grilled flounder. It came with salad and a baked potato. Let's just say I'm legit going to be rolling myself back to my hotel room. The waitress even packed me a cinnamon roll to go. I'd like to say I left it on the table..but. Maybe I'll leave it in the car and not bring it into the hotel room. Yeah. (Maybe.) In other news, I wanna have a pea pig pickin! That would be so fun!!

Some of my favorite of my favorite memories involve pig pickin' weekends. Always great music too. We had an early dinner of pasta salad-tonight was the baccalaureate. So very sweet-I am proud of the boy, he is graduating with high honors with distinction (GPA 4.0 or higher.) They were all recognized and I got a little teary eyed.

anxiousmom, congratulations to your son. It's graduation time and I'm getting excited. I think I have the only senior who never had senioritis. He's sad that he's graduating. I made chicken tortilla soup for dinner. I could not think of an idea and it suddenly came to me.
