MISSPELLINGS...
Kindergarten Fifth Grade Eighth Grade (corrected my own mistake.. haha)
ALL of those misspelled.
And they didn't spell out Seventh Grade like the rest of the classes, it's 7th Grade.
One mistake, haha.. whatever.. two, oh really... now three? REALLY? It's kinda bothering me now. And that isn't even studying every word in the book.
This is the SAME school, where I got fired from for some small stupid stupid mistakes. My mistakes were WAY less than this. I am a little peeved right now.
I am not out of my mind upset, more like "Really?"
WORDS MISSPELLED:
Kindergarden
Fifht grade
Eigth grade

Well, my dd is a junior and yearbooks came out today. She was in tears half the day today because she is her XC team captain and they put someone else's picture where her's should have been been on the XC page. It's even worse since the girl whose picture they used is a girl who is always undermining the team captains.

On DS's team page they featured a nice action photo of a kid that only participated in half the meets because he decided he liked theatre better Another prominant photo was of a kid that didn't compete due to academic restrictions. The lead captain who went to state? Only in group photo. It makes me sad, and I'm not his mother!

My school's entire track team was dissed. They took photos and I know they had one for the yearbook. At least they printed the names of the team members.

Geez oh petes. It really peeves me to see those types of errors in any kind of communication from the school.
Our high school yearbook is done by the students with a teacher advisor and our elementary yearbooks are done by one of the staff at the elementary school with no input from the students. Is there any way one of the upper classes (7th or 8th?) could have helped with the yearbook? Not that it shouldn't have been edited but I'd be less irritated if I knew a kid was involved in some way.

Our elementary yearbooks are done by a team of 6th graders. They do have an advisor, so I would still expect these mistakes to be caught.

My school left out the Unified Arts teachers and a lot of the aides. So, after 22 years of teaching, I am not in this yearbook. I was pissed.
I was the yearbook adviser for years. Those kind of mistakes would not have happened. We made mistakes but leaving out a lot of teachers- no.
Kids usually make the yearbook but it is an adult's responsibility to check for these kind of errors.

Our elementary yearbooks are done by the PTA, ie a volunteer. But yeah I can't stand glaring errors.

Students are assigned to different sections and none of it is cohesive. They have so many errors. They got my son's name wrong his senior year. ugh!! In the book it gave "credit" for each of the sections........ the girl responsible for the senior photos has known him for 13 years! They went k-6th with just twelve kids in their class, how could she get his name wrong!??!?!!

I didn't look at my son's yearbook that closely. I was like, oh cool! It has a comic book theme! Oh, and he's so awesome he is in two class photos. FTR, I never requested my special snowflake have his photo included with the general ed classroom he rarely attends. It was a school decision.

My daughter was drill team captain in high school. She was voted "Most Talented" and one of her lieutenants was voted "Best Hair." Well Miss Best Hair also worked on the year book that year and some how my "most talented" daughter's entire award and picture was left out. hmmmm Well she WAS very upset that my daughter was captain.

Man some of these stories suck!!
Not yearbook, but my son's name was left out of the program they pass out on graduation day for high school, . We get to the graduation and have the book in hand, and my phone starts ringing. It's the school calling me letting me know our son's name isn't on the program. 12 YEARS of school and you miss his name? So of course everyone we know is wondering why ds isn't graduating. UGGG and to top it off he was on his way to the Air Force and no mention of that either. (which is another long story)... 3 years later we just laugh at it all but sad all the same.
To 'make up' for it, they gave us TWO front row seats where the honor roll family can sit... ummm what? You want us to split our family up and let two of us sit together while my 7 and 16 dd sit by themselves?

My daughter was left out of her yearbook of the school that she attended all but the last 5 months for the last 3 years. We paid for one but it only has her baby pic (8th grader). They didn't put her in with the class even though the pics are taken in fall. They also didn't list her name in any of her clubs. So she is in the pic but she isn't named. She was so sad.

These books are freaking expensive, too! Our high school yearbooks start at $80 if you order early and go up to over $100 if you order late.
DD did speak to the yearbook advisor yesterday who was mortified by the mistake but it doesn't fix anything. What's done is done.

My son's middle school yearbook, done by a teacher, has so many mistakes. None of the individual retake pictures, which we were promised would be included, were. So my DS has an awful picture in there. There are so many student names spelled wrong in group pictures. The wrong group pictures were used. Group A is pictured. Then pictured again but listed as Group B. Poor Group B is never actually pictured or listed. The band & orchestra teachers were not included anywhere in the book. There were so many other mistakes! I was on the yearbook staff as a student and as a teacher (elementary) and can't believe the number of mistakes that made it into the books.

I think high schools should have the captain of each sports team or club check the pages. Our yearbook always got the names messed up. I also hated that spring sports were only included in an additional supplement. The girls track team won the State Championship and there was no place to recognize that in the yearbook. When I was in high school the spring sports from the previous year were included.

I was a PTO volunteer that was responsible for a small military elementary school. The book I created had many mistakes with names and it made me crazy however there was nothing I could do about it. The book was contracted through Lifetouch, who also took the portraits. I was given the portraits along with names as Lifetouch had them. I knew that there with mistakes with name spelling because I knew many of the students. I fixed the one I recognized but did not know everyone. I asked the school for a list of students to correct names. The school declined to help me. I offered to sit in the school office to work on the book so I could get the names right. The school declined. I asked if there was any way I could check name spellings and the school said "no". I tried to compare name spellings via facebook and friends but my hands were tied. If Lifetouch entered the names incorrectly it was very difficult for me to rectify. I did my best and still had people bitch me out about spellings afterwards. No one cared that I could not even get the school to help me and it wasn't worth the grief of being blamed so I quit volunteering with the PTO. I just wanted to add a different perspective from a parent volunteer.

It's very nice, has tons of information and extra pics- and more room for mistakes. I've noticed since yesterday they labeled youngest DS's best friend with two different last names on the same page!

So my DS has an awful picture in there. Aw! This happened to my daughter too this year. Her school picture was terrible, so she had a retake done. She specifically went to the yearbook team and was assured her retake would be the one used. We paid $50 for the yearbook, and what is in there? The goofy one. She was still so mad and embarrassed.

Our yearbook group competes at the national level for awards so the students took it very seriously as they used it for college application packages, etc. depending on their majors. We had a spring insert that was always printed with all of the spring sport information and any corrections were in there too, if it was something caught after printing. They also included current events in the spring insert too, so it had a bit of a time capsule kind of feel. I liked it. It has been a number of years, but I know they still take it pretty seriously.
Ours cost over $100 back then, I'd hate to know how much they are now!
