I have a box of Peanut butter cup brownie mix in the pantry that expired 8/1/15. Would you cook and eat it? I am wavering. Supposed to be on Whole 30 but REALLY want brownies - and to start over on Monday.

I would unless it smelled bad - like old crackers.

It is fairly certain to be fine from a food safety perspective, but if I were in your shoes, I'd use the date as a justification to toss it and remove the temptation.

But I know you're right! I already tossed one that expired in 2014 (YIKES!) but it's crazy to eat this junk! Guess I'll toss this one too!

What day are you in your Whole 30? I just finished 30 on May 31. I am trying to start over but keep sabotaging myself. I have decided it's because I have been using Stevia in my coffee in the mornings - I end up craving sweets in the afternoon. So, tomorrow will be day 1 again. I decided to not eat the brownies, and have some coffee with coconut cream. Have you done a whole 30?

It's fine to eat but good for you for tossing it! I'm proud of you!

Well, I would have just gone ahead and baked them, because I have NO self-discipline and wouldn't be doing Whole 30 to begin with and I expect they would have been fine. I don't mind a baking mix that's past the date, but at some point it's not going to rise the way it's supposed to. I guess all you're out in that case is your time and maybe an egg or two.
