My husbands pants and shirts went through the washer and dryer with a pen. Is there anything that could get the ink out after being heat set by the dryer? The shirts are 100% cotton and the pants are 65% Polyester and 34% cotton. The pants are 1 WEEK old! UGH!

I always heard that people get fairly decent results from spot soaking the stain with alcohol or hairspray then blotting (no rubbing.)
But I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure.

I was successful with blue dawn and a magic eraser.
Good luck..I know exactly how you feel. DH did the same thing and I had some brand new clothes in there that had never even been worn.

We did have that happen once, the clothes were really bad, we soaked them (outside) in rubbing alcohol, and saved most of them. After soaking we took them out, blotted them, resoaked, blotted again, washed..

I couldn't get ink out of my favorite white shorts that had not been dried in the dryer. I tried EVERYTHING.
Good luck.

I've had good luck with alcohol. I'd either use rubbing alcohol or vodka. Saturate the area, blot with paper towels, and repeat. Then wash again. Hairspray contains some alcohol which is why is it often recommended. But the hairspray is diluted so it is less reliable than the rubbing a. or vodka.

I've used a ton of oxyclean and a toothbrush and was able to get most of the pen out. But it took a long time with a whole lot of scrubbing.

Rubbing alcohol, or if you don't have that you could try hand sanitizer since that also contains a lot of alcohol. Like others have said, BLOT don't rub or you'll make it worse. You might have to do it several times to get it all out.

Look on the bright side, your husband now has a new set of work clothes. Hand him the clothes and a list of all the dirty jobs that need doing.

Hairspray has always worked well for me. I used to wear lab coats at work and constantly washed many pens in with my whites. Went through a lot of hairspray but I think I was able to salvage almost all my clothes.

I have had pretty good luck with Krud Kutter. You can get it in the paint section at Home Depot, Lowes or Amazon. It is non toxic and you can even wash clothes with it, but I just use it to blot.

I would use the rubbing alcohol cause you might need a stiff drink while dealing with all of this. No sense in wasting the vodka.

The carbona ink remover works great. BUT it's expensive. Like $3.89 for a tiny bottle. Works wonderfully on small spots but the mess of drying clothes with the pen wpuld probably take multiple bottles.
I've used hair spray on the lines my kids have accidentally gotten in the car. It works. But those haven't been set in the dryer either.
Good luck

Motsenbacher's Lift-Off for Ink has worked for me. I've gotten it at Home Depot/Lowe's.

I did that once and used hairspray, the aerosol kind, to take it out. That was a lot no time ago, though, and I'm pretty sure the formulas have changed.
My go to stain remover these days is Oxy-Clean. I've recently learned to use it correctly and it's amazing how much better it works. I dissolve 1 Tbs per gallon of water and submerge the entire garment in it. I usually let it sit over night at least and I swish it ever so often. Actually, what I've started doing is keeping a 5 gallon bucket of it in the tub in the bathroom nearest the laundry room. DH drops any stained shirts in it and gives it a swish with an unused back brush. I grab the shirts out whenever I go to start a load.
I do make up a fresh batch each week, just in case you're picturing a really nasty bucket of water. LOL
So far, it's taken everything out, even the stains that were old when I started using it. I figure this one box has already saved me a couple hundred bucks work of work clothes.

I've gotten ink out of a shirt from a Mr Clean sponge but I hadn't washed it. It might be worth a shot though? Good Luck! Let us know what works!
