You click on FILE, LIBRARY, EXPORT LIBRARY and save to whatever location you want. I put mine on a thumb drive. Then I put it on my laptop by opening Studio on my laptop and selecting FILE, LIBRARY, IMPORT LIBRARY. It will ask you for your email and password that you use with SOS to authenticate - but it imports from whatever you have it stored on. I assume the authentication is to keep people from sharing their libraries of purchases SOS files.
It imports all files - ones that you have purchased from SOS, ones that you have imported into the Library from other places, backgrounds (I have put a lot of digital papers in my library that I use for print and cut).
It does NOT import/backup any fonts that you install on your system. If you bought a font from SOS and installed it - that would be there. But ones that you buy from other places or get free (like from DaFont, etc.) are not included in the backup. Be sure to have those backed up somewhere too in case of system failure.
I have my Library organized with folders for different seasons/events etc. It imported everything just as it was. It was very quick.

This was not the case for me. I did roll back to the Legacy version after I installed the first upgrade - poo - that one stunk. After the fixes, I upgraded back to V3.0.531 and I never lost my library. Any files you create in V3 are not compatible with V2 unless you specifically save them as Legacy files though. It is a good idea to backup though! V3 makes that easy - another good reason to upgrade. Silhouette Customer Service told me just last week that if you uninstall the upgrade and reinstall Legacy that you lose your library, and that it needs to be backed up before uninstalling. I have not tried it. What I posted was what their CS gal told me only a few days ago, as part of her response to a specific question I asked about the library. One thing that tempts me to upgrade is the library back up feature in the new version.

Thanks iowgirl and scrapnnan - I don't ever want to start from scratch on my Library again!

I am pretty sure I never "uninstalled" anything. I just ran the file from Silhouette and it did it for me (rolled back my version). I would follow what they say though - things change and it might be different from when I did it. Never hurts to have a backup!!!
