I mentioned before, our pet chicken was killed last week. The duck and she were best pals. He was wandering around looking for her and then he was call for her. It was sad. So we brought him home a pretty little girlfriend of the duck variety. She is an egg layer! She gave us 2 eggs and then stopped. Guess what, she didn't stop and I found 2 eggs semi buried in the cutest nest this morning.
Now it was 107 yesterday and these eggs were outside in that heat. Would you eat them?

I would think they would still be fresh at 24 hours, even with those temps, but I'm no farmer and will be interested in what someone with more knowledge than I says.

Eggs are laid with a bloom on them that protects them. If eggs can sit under the bum of a mum for weeks until they hatch, why would eggs laid in a nest not still be ok? Eat the eggs. Duck eggs are delicious.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Chicken pet. My sis has a dozen or so chickens and 7 ducks. We love those little guys, they are so entertaining. The ducks and chickens don't get along so they have their own runs. Well, the ducks are free range and the chicks have approx. a .25 acre fenced off. I have no advice but feel bad for your loss. I loved your chicken stories.

I learned from compwalla that duck eggs are perfect for using in pound cake. She was right. Just sayin'.
