Ha. Who knew that the high water part might be an actual issue. (Tropical Storm) Colin is coming to visit and graduation is tonight. The boy says that they won't cancel the ceremony no matter what, but I suspect that the school board will have the final say. I think it will just be a lot of rain, but sometimes the people in charge get twitchy and act in an abundance of caution. But for now, we are in for a soggy evening. Fortunately the ceremony is inside. I can't decide if this an auspicious sign or not-but at some point, it will make for a great story...'we graduated in the middle of a tropical storm!!'

My youngest graduated in the pouring rain in the HS stadium. We all had umbrella's and we all got wet. Oh well, at least he graduated. It wasn't a tropical storm though just a heavy rain.

This year is reminding me of the summer of 95. It seemed like every time we went to Tallahassee there was a hurricane!
Good luck getting to and from safely. I'm sure you know the rules about driving through water - don't do it. On the bright side, no one will be able to spot tears. Good luck, and congrats!

My cousin graduated in '72. They had to cancel her ceremony because of hurricane Agnes.
They held it later and Henry Kissinger came to it.

Looks like we had four scheduled for today. Two were this morning, and the two for this afternoon/evening have been postponed to Wednesday and Thursday. Honestly, they sent us home from work early, mostly for school closures, and we're seeing some localized flooding, but not too much worse than a normal summer wash out.

stay dry! and congratulations to AnxiousGraduate!
my grand-nephew graduated in the rain this morning in Tampa. And I remember my son's graduation in 2010 being delayed due to thunderstorms (outside ceremony)

So far it has just been a drizzly day-not even bad storms like we get in the summer. Since I haven't heard otherwise, we are assuming graduation is a go.

If he's in Hillsborough it did, which is insane! Sorry anxiousmom, happy for your son, but the big wigs in the big districts today should be lucky all the kids are alive and safe. It was AWFUL. We had 256 kids out today and I don't blame them one bit!

We didn't get cancelled, but we sure as heck got wet. I actually was waiting for the cancellation text, but it never came. The venue was fortunately inside, and we were one of three schools that were graduating last night. It was chaos, but a happy chaos. I was surprised that everyone showed up as it was raining pretty hard and the wind was kind of crazy. Although, I do think that a lot of our afternoon summer storms are worse...at least up until last night after we got home. Then the storms got ugly and the thunder kept waking me up. You could definitely tell the storm was tropical in nature-there were fairly distinct rain bands so when we left the restaurant after the ceremony, it wasn't raining at all. By the time we got home, in my jammies and teeth brushed it was stormin' norman again.
