I really need to stop swearing so much. You should hear the things I say in the car when I'm stuck in traffic and other drivers are doing stupid things! At least I'm on my own, but I worry that one day I'll let fly when the kids are in the car. So help me come up with some creative alternative words to use.
Examples:
I heard an older woman on the radio this morning talking about gardening. "The wind was so strong it blew the jolly tree over!"
My Nanna used to say "Oh my hat!" or "Oh my conscience!" instead of Oh my God.
What substitute words do you use instead of swearing or blaspheming?
(Although I have to say, sometimes there's nothing better than a good F***K!)

I tend to just go with the less inflammatory "bad words". "Crap" and "Bastard" are my favorites.

My kids call me Truck Driver Sally, so I'll be of no help to you whatsoever. For a while, in my younger days, when I actually did try to cut back on one of my favorite hobbies, I substituted 'Judas Priest!' for taking the Lord's name in vain.

Sorry, I am of no help. No fewer than five friends sent me the pin of the t-shirt that said something to the effect of being a lady with the vocabulary of a well educated sailor. I have a very southern accent, and tend to be fairly conservatively dressed, so it is always a shock to my people when I let it fly. And I do.

I've given up. My dd is now 17 so I'm really out of the habit of censoring myself. I try, but it's always an epic failure.

Cheese and rice Fiddlesticks Bull dookie Oh mylanta Fudge Shut the front door I call my kids "pistols" or "turkeys"
My husband says "what the piss" a lot, and I don't care for it in the slightest. Well, I like it better than its alternative I guess.

I like to swear - but a coworker who's now retired used to say "bad words and dirty names" when she was mad. It was quite funny!

I'd look up solutions for how to deal with road rage so you can learn to be more patient and not say a word.

How about wine? Seems like a good alternative to me. Wine while driving is frowned upon, but it think it's a great idea for any other time.

I've tried to limit my cussing, I can make a sailor blush. But I will yell a good, "piss off" with a British accent every now and then. It just feels good.

My mother got away with it for quite awhile because it doesn't mean anything to us Americans. We think it's "quaintly British" or something. Then one day my younger sister used it and my mom decided she didn't like the sound of it coming out her little girl's mouth. hahaha

Swearing seems like a fairly innocuous way to deal with road rage, when compared to running someone off the road or brandishing a gun. As a former road rager, I find singing along to the radio loudly is therapeutic for me. I swear with the best of them, and often, so I'm of no use whatsoever. I do like bloody hell though.

From my Irish grandmother: "Cheese and crackers got all muddy; some of the bits got damaged."
Note the emphasis: CHEESE and crackers GOT all MUDdy SOME of the bits GOT DAMaged.
An Irish brogue helps immeasurably.

I say things like "shut the front door" and "what a crock". I agree, sometimes there is no replacement for a much needed f bomb.

I'm a big potty mouth. I remember in college my roommate's boyfriend didn't like his girlfriend's new word choices. Said I was a bad influence...hahaha!!!
My daughter who will be 13 yrs old next month does NOT like cussing at all. I'm trying to make better word selections but sometimes the FBomb or other words just come out. I'm trying...

Frack or Frak'in (from the show Battlestar Gallactica- they couldn't say the F word on TV so they came up with a close alternative)
