I dropped a CD sub a couple of years ago when I knew we were moving and the kits were piling up. I was looking recently. I don't really like the exclusives, especially papers and stickers. Stamps or wood veneer or pl cards I'm ok with as long as it's just a very small part. I'm eating my own words. I just subbed to Hip Kit the other day. I said I'd been looking. I finally got a bug... and did it.

I just opened my Hip Kit this morning. (I was in Disney World last week and just got home. Yay!)
I really appreciate that the owner contributed to this thread. It is nice to know what the issue is and how they are dealing with it.
I really like their kits. Evidently it is my aesthetic, because I always enjoy the color combinations and mix of products. Everything goes together so well. I am not a fan of exclusives but their exclusives work really well with the other papers and I don't see any difference in quality. The alphabets are really nice, too.
Most of the current kit is very flat, except for some brads. They did include very cool looking clothes pins but they are way too thick to use on my pages. I really love the way they look, however, so I know I'll use them as paper clips or something outside of scrapping.
I also subscribe to Citrus Twist. The thing I like about that club is all the cool bits and bobs- doilies, book pages, tissue paper, ribbon, acrylic shapes, wood shapes, etc. I always feel like I'm getting a lot of neat product to work with. The thing I don't like about this club is that it is not very cohesive- it needs to have a color scheme or theme to tie it all together but often it just looks like random stuff. I like the random stuff, so I keep subscribing but I'm often very puzzled by what the designer was thinking. Also, they don't always include a big (or any) alphabet.
I don't buy kits for the exclusives. I buy them because it is fun to get the package and it challenges me to think about scrapping in a different way. I get a few things that I'll never use but I've also got things that I would never have bought on my own but ended up liking when I used them.

That was my feeling when subbing to CT as well - particularly the last couple of kits I got. I bought a few earlier ones on sale and they did seem to fit together better.

Couldn't agree more about this! Awesome embellishments (I'm a puffy sticker convert!) and 6x6 papers but the pocket life cards were ... meh. Customer service was also on point, too. I did not have a bad experience with Citrus Twist.

Hi Kimberly,
Thanks for the input. It really helps me understand some of the issues to hear directly from kit owners, designers, shop owners, etc. I really love Hip Kit and when I get a bit more breathing room in the budget, plan to subscribe for a while. Love your colors and contents.

Very recently subbed to Hip Kit Club and have to say my first kit was gorgeous! The tipping point for me in trying out a sub was the inclusion of exclusive cut files that work with the kits. Hoping this will get me to use my Cameo more.

I struggle to find new supplies and I have TWO LSS! They never buy a whole line, just a few papers or just the odd add in embellishment. About the only line I can get everything is Doodlebug. As cute as those lines are, they aren't my style. It's times like this that the death of Archivers really hits home. I really, really miss the rush of walking into an Archiver's or a good LSS. We have neither now But I'm spending a lot less. And I agree that it is rare to find all the pieces of a good line in stock at one online store these days. There is always at least one or two pieces sold out before I can get to it or they never even had those pieces. And it's usually the pieces I want!

I've been a Hip Kit subber in the past. I'm taking a break now to use up my stash, but I've been really pleased with their kits and customer service. One thing I like about the kits is that they have a consistent feel - not the same every month, but just similar, mostly bright colors, varying with seasons but never like a kit with a strange color palette. I also think they're done a good job with the recent exclusives - they have been consistent in quality with the other products in the kits.

I like Hip Kit Club. I've found myself using their kits more and more and I know it's just been a rough couple of months with no American Crafts products to mix it up, but Kimberly has done a great job during that fiasco, in my opinion.

I recently let go of my Simon Says Stamp monthly kit subscription (too much water color emphasis for my tastes, lately) and am looking for a replacement.
I've been going through all the past threads about kit clubs and have narrowed it down to Felicity Jane, Clique Kits and Hip Kit Club. Now to pick just one. Decisions, decisions...

I don't care for the hip kit exclusive designs and I unsubscribed. The exclusives just don't have the same value in my opinion.
For example- I still feel cheated from the February kit where the package of Amy Tangerine Better Together Phrase Thickers were substituted with "exclusive" thin-as-cardstock wood veneer words and shapes. 25 Thickers of which 14 were words vs 20 zero dimension wood veneer which had 7 words and 13 pieces shapes (star, heart, arrow). Not a fair substitution in my opinion, especially since it cost me $6 to buy the Thickers myself at my local scrapbook store. Even if I had been able to buy the Thickers for $4 that wouldn't have been a fair substitution.
