I need to buy 4 tickets from Seattle to Honolulu leaving March 31, 2017.
Right now they are running 780ish. Ugh.
How long should I wait to buy them or should I buy them this far in advance?
Thanks for any help or advice!

You should start watching them now... usually the sweet spot where you can find seats and the price is reasonable is around the three months mark.
I recommend Hopper to watch it will tell you when you have a good deal.

I would wait until Nov/Dec and wait for an Alaska Airlines sale. They have great sales for Seattle to Hawaii flights (usually $300-$400 round trip).

I don't know - that's prime spring break time. I would usually agree that they'll often go down around 3 months out - but I'm not as confident about that route at that time of year.

Alaska Air's lowest is $431 right now. The $700m tickets are the refundable ones.

50-60 days prior to travel usually lends the best deals.

50-60 days prior to travel usually lends the best deals. I have found this to be true multiple times.

50-60 days prior to travel usually lends the best deals. Except in this case in smack in the middle of lots of spring breaks. I wouldn't buy now, but I also would buy This fall, unless you see a few weeks worth of an upward trend, not January or early February.

I start looking at six months out, and if I don't like the price, I watch it until four months out. After that, I start getting serious about buying lest I end up in a jam either in availability or rising prices.
Right now, a lot of airlines don't have their schedules firm that far out. They are offering tickets based on past patterns, not actual flights, so it's very possible the time will change by a lot. Like several hours, and you've already given your non-refundable money to the airline. You're at the mercy of whatever they come up for you in terms of time.

I have been looking for tickets from Seattle to Maui April 1st. I watched the prices of tickets during spring vacation for two years hoping they would go down but they never did. This is a very popular time to go to Hawaii so I am doubtful the $300 ticket I bought for my February trip will be found. Jen

I used the Hopper app to track flights recently. It looked like I was getting pretty good feedback from it as I watched the prices on other sites too.
