I'm looking at fixtures and it's difficult to tell about the quality of them in pictures.
Anyone here have any tried and true sources for pendant lights and dining room lighting?

I've had good luck with Lamps Plus.

We've used Schoolhouse Electric - its more of an vintage-modern-type lighting store. HERE

I have a few fixtures from Ballard Designs that always generate compliments. They are nice for their price range. I have ordered from Pottery Barn, Ethan Allen, and the big box home improvement stores. But most came from an actual lighting showroom. If you have a nice lighting store near you, go look there and see some different manufacturers things in person. You can explore more online, but they might even price match... And probably give better service than a website.

raindancer I know you are using a contractor - did they not give you the list of who's lights you can order from and it be included in your 'package'. In my past life I was a Residentail Interior Designer and almost all of the homebuilders I worked with that had packages (like I've read you have chosen) had a list of preferred vendors. I just dont want you to fall in love with one company and then come to find out, your builder will only use 'x' company.

We liked some and not others so we had ceiling fan wiring put in and then we are also planning to replace the dining room and kitchen pendants ourselves after we close. The bathrooms we liked! (In our last build we hated it all and when we moved in replaced all the fixtures in the whole house!) But it is so nice of you to think of me.

Did you look at Rejuvenation? We have a store locally but they have a web site. They are owned by Williams-Sonoma.

We bought from Shades of Light, Restoration Hardware, West Elm, Anthropologie, Amazon, Joss and Main, and a few others that I can't think of right now when we were building. All of them I was very happy with.

I've used Lamps Plus and Lamps USA and have been happy. I've also found a couple fixtures at Overstock.
