Today my preemie graduates high school. Those days when we visited him in his little isolette were way too scary and stressful. My boy went through a lot in that hospital, yet he was the happiest infant ever. Soon, he's off to college to become a history teacher. We're doing things a bit differently to celebrate. First of all, when I finish typing this thread I am going to decorate the kitchen and his bedroom door. I can't decorate his room, because there's no way I'm going in there w/o a machete and some backup. Graduation is at night. It took a month to teach newborn ds how to suck, swallow, breathe and now he's a pro. So, we're going to pick up a pizza after the ceremony and mil made her famous cupcakes at his request. She's 87 and stopped baking a couple years ago, but came out of retirement for the first grandson. Tmw we're doing the actual grad meal. Ds wanted breakfast and we'll do just that tmw am. My picky eater wouldn't want a normal dinner anyway. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
What's on your menu?
Have a wonderful Friday everyone. Enjoy your weekends and to those of you who are in pain or having a bad week, I wish you a much comfier and happier weekend.

Congratulations to your ds scrapmaven I have Splurge Club tonight so I'll be munching on appetizers of some sort for dinner ... it's being hosted by my bff and her mum is doing all of the food ... she is an excellent cook so it should be great Normally I would also say that there will be wine but I've recently started a new medication that prevents me from drinking ... it sucks Dd#2 is spending the weekend cattle penning with Grandma so I don't have to worry about feeding her Dh and dd#2 are fending for themselves

Aww, what a great real intro to the graduate. Congrats to you both, scrapmaven! I still hope that you don't overdo this weekend, so I'll wish the no pain right back at you! I have no idea what's for dinner, and no idea if DH will even be here for it. He's doing a charity run this evening, but it depends on the weather. It's supposed to be 95, and after working all day, he may decide to come home. It may be a good day for tuna salad. Hmm.

Congratulations to your son, scrapmaven! (And I get the not going into their rooms without a machete and backup....I have a 17 yo DS). Tonight we had lasagne (it's freezing here! The sun is shining, but I'm freezing my butt off!), and raspberries and cream for dessert.

Happy Graduation, son of scrapmaven! I have a preemie, too. He'll be a sophomore in high school. I can totally relate to the scary NICU days. Now he's taller than I am, has a voice deeper than DH's and aspires to be a video game programmer. We're having pizza from Papa John's. DH is still camping, so it's the perfect time to order the one kind of pizza he doesn't like.

I think the way your family has chosen to celebrate your son's graduation is perfect, scrapmaven! And, how sweet of your MIL to come out of retirement for her grandson. Enjoy your weekend and take care of yourself. We'll be expecting a full report on Monday. I'm not sure what I'm serving for dinner tonight. I really want to go with Lucky Charms and Froot Loops, but since I know that won't fly, it will be something equally as easy. Tacos maybe?

Cereal is often my dinner.
Today is a PD Day (no school), & I made a huge lunch for my dgc. Waffles & chicken, bacon, scrambled eggs & fresh strawberries.

We're going to the graduation of dh's oldest grandson at 5:00. Originally there wasn't a ticket for me (I wasn't the least bit upset) but we just got a call saying they got an extra. After graduation we're going to their place for Italian food that's being prepared by a local restaurant. We got food there for our wedding and it's delicious! So I'll be eating around 9:00! Guess who is taking a long nap in about 2 minutes!?!

There are tons of leftovers in the fridge, so that's what we'll be eating for the next couple of days. scrapmaven, enjoy your graduation weekend. I had a preemie, too, but he was big and healthy, and only stayed in the hospital for a week. He's 34 now, healthy and extremely annoying. leannec, poor baby! I hope your alcohol deprivation is only temporary.

Fabulous way to celebrate graduation!
Yesterday on my MSN homepage was a link to "20 chicken recipes", and that's where I found tonight's menu.
We're having Mexican grilled chicken cobb salad. The photo looked so damned good, plus I have pretty much all of the ingredients.

Well, the dr. was running almost 45 minutes late yesterday so we did not get home from DS's appointment in time fore me to make any sort of dinner except quickie sandwiches. So, last night's dal, rice, and fresh corn will probably happen tonight. And possibly ... corn muffins. DH's work group visited a manufacturing facility the other day, and he came home with 24 boxes of various kinds of muffin mixes. Yes, 24 boxes. Did you get that? TWENTY FOUR BOXES OF MUFFIN MIX.

Happy Graduation Weekend and congratulations to your son, scrapmaven - party hearty! I just put the finishing touch on our summer days meal for later. We're having tuna macaroni salad, deviled eggs, cheddar cubes and crackers, with fresh strawberries and fruit dip. Maybe I'll start with dessert first...

This is clean out the fridge day so the leftover roast with potatoes and gravy - DH ate what he wanted on toast and the rest in already in the garbage. I had a hot dog but we still have one left. Still had some BLT wrap fixin' so I just ate it without the tortilla (it is better fresh but still was tasty cold). Fridge is cleaned out and garbage will be taken out shortly. We have the phantom garbage man who comes before the sun comes up on garbage days so we take it out the night before.

I went to brunch with my matron of honor and former roommate. I was her maid of honor. I am still really full. The boys' dad is taking them to eat Mexican food. They will bring me back food, but I will order something quite small. Lisa ETA: And congrats, Scrapmaven, and Scrapmaven ds! I wish it were cooler here. Summer is in full force.

no idea, what else is new.. Probably going to go out to eat, I'm hurting all over and sitting here currently with a heating pad on my back(really I'm tempted to get a twin size electric blanket so I can wrap up in heat this thing isn't big enough). If ds wants something super easy that I can do here we will do that---boxed mac and cheese, grilled cheese, pancakes--- otherwise we'll likely go get something..
Unless he comes home and is hurting and exhausted and, I mean one of us will have to drive, maybe I'll have recovered enough by the time he gets home(he's been hauling hay for what seems like ever, aka the past few weeks)

Thank you for the kind wishes for ds and I. It's quite an exciting thing. I won't be posting tmw, because after breakfast mil, her sister, sil and I will be going to deposit some money in the bank o' slot machines. It's nice to go there every year or so and visit my money. Tmw night everyone is going to our favorite Japanese restaurant for dinner, but I think I'll probably be home resting after 2 very fun, but exhausting days. Have a great Saturday. leannec , If you start to get the shakes then for goodness sakes grab some Jiffy POP and make it productive. You'll be shaking anyway. It sucks that you had to give up wine. Thanks again. I have a college freshman, yet I'm so young and um... . 50's is the new 30's, cause I say so.
