Hello, this is my first time posting on the scrapbooking board although I spend a lot of time on the NSBR board. What photobook company would you recommend for me to use under these circumstances: 1. Sometimes I want a template for the page, sometimes I won't. 2. Unlimited number of pages 3. Ability to add my own embellishments, you know like different types of fonts, etc. 4. Hardcover and probably 8 1/2 x 11 size 5. Would prefer not to use Shutterfly
TIA for your suggestions. Oh, another thought, maybe I should just buy some software and do it all on my own but if I chose that route, who would publish it?

I have used Shutterfly in the past. I have also used Peekaboo (but they might be a Canadian company, not 100% on that).

Hi, I like to make yearly hardcover 12x12 photobooks and also smaller books as gifts. My favorite company right now is Adoramapix. I have used Shutterfly in the past but find the quality of the Adorama books superior. They use heavier paper, and have my favorite feature: lay flat pages. I have purchased Groupons in the past to make the price more reasonable, and then you can just add on additional pages. I have used their templates, but actually prefer to design the whole thing myself in Photoshop, so I can have complete control of fonts, embellishments, etc. I don't work for them, but have a referral code (just because I like them!) that would give you $5 off: $5 credit for AdoramaPixLet me know if you have other questions. I can post pictures of some books I made too if you want to see.

Haven't used them myself, but several people I know have and had good experiences. For photobooks, I just recommended Blurb to a friend after seeing a book that Kelly Purkey created: www.kellypurkey.com/its_me_kp/2016/01/creating-a-hardcover-travel-photo-book-using-blurb.htmlSaveSaveSaveSave

Their program took awhile to load up and run on my old-ish computer (and you have to download the program) so that wasn't my favorite, but the quality of the books is great. They definitely let you do pretty much whatever you want in terms of template / font, they have a lot of sizes and pages (I think one of my books was 150 pages...), and it was a cheaper option than some other photobook companies I've seen. That said, I don't have anything to compare it to and was thinking of going with another brand just to experiment the next time I order a book.

Hi Lemonella, I'd love to see some of your pages!! sweetshabbyroses , you got it! Here are a couple: Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedThis is a 12x12 book, using one of their simple templates. I realized that the custom books where I did my own templates (in Photoshop), I gave away as gifts! But you can download the layouts for a particular book size from their website and then do all the designing in an editor like Photoshop, which I have done in the past with good results. Then you can lay out the pages exactly how you want, use your own fonts and colors, add "stickers", etc. Attachment DeletedThis shows a side view, of the lay-flat pages I like so much. It's not entirely flat since the book is sitting on my sofa. The pages are thick and heavy and the quality is great. Edited to add: Just looked at the photographs and they don't really do the books justice. I should re-take them in natural light! SaveSaveSaveSave

I've used Shutterfly, Artifact Uprising, and MyPublisher. MyPublisher may work for you because they have a lot of embellishment options. You actually download their software to work with and it was pretty easy to use. They have a lot of coupon codes and offers if you sign up for email. If you use separate software to design in, then just save your entire page as a jpg, make sure the page ratio coincides with whatever size book you want. Then just upload the jpgs to a "blank" page in the book. www.mypublisher.com/
