I've been looking at a lot of digital layouts online lately and I see many many many that I really like. However, 1 out of every 10 layouts is soooo full of elements that I cant even find the photo(s). It's something that I haven't ever seen with paper crafting (thou, Im sure its possible). Im finding that I digital scrap very similarly to how I paper scrap (because thats what I like). I just wonder if some people might embellish more on a digital layout than a paper one because its both cheap and easy.
Do you think that digital scrapping has the potential (more than paperscrapping) to lend itself to too much chaos because its soo easy to add "just one more"? Do you find yourself at risk of it?

I think I have the opposite problem at the moment. I'm new to digi so everything takes me a while to figure out. Im so relieved when I get a few things in place that I'm tempted to just finish!
I guess the thing with digital is that you can add a lot without the bulk that you'd get with paper so maybe it's tempting to keep going?

Trust me when I say I've seen it with paper scrapping. I stopped looking at the 2peas layouts a long time ago, because so many were product ladden, and just not my style. I consider myself a simple scrapper.
I think it's all just personal style. So I don't think people do it more really than they used to on paper. For some people, the picture is just not the focus.
For me, I'm photo-centric, so my layouts don't have a lot of "stuff" on them.
I only do it to remember the moment/time/people.

Well I was never a plain, clean or simple scrapper with paper scrapping and I most certainly am not with digital scrapping either. I am a pile it all on scrapper whichever way you look at it. But, yes, the lack of bulk and the fact that it's not costing any more to add a dozen flowers instead of three does make a difference with digi.

I think my style in paper and digi are the same but, yes, I'm guilty of adding more embellishment to a digi page than a paper one. For me, part of that is the ability to recolour so where I might discard an option in paper because the one colour I have of it doesn't go, I never face that same challenge in digi. I admit, the never running out of stuff helps too.

My style in both paper and digi are the same and the key element for me has to be the photo and the story.
I used more elements on digi pages - my paper pages often have very very little at all other than pictures and journalling with just a few elements

Oh yes, definitely. With paper scrapping, you can only have so many layers before it gets too physically bulky and unwieldy, after all. With digital, the physical constraints aren't there, and you can easily get a little bit carried away. And some digital templates go a little bit overboard with the clustering and the layering, imho. Of course, it's easy enough to hide or delete unwanted layers, so it's all good.

There are definitely busy, very "cluttered" digi layouts out there, but I see a ton of clean and simple layouts, too. I think you will find that most galleries have a variety of styles. Cost is definitely a factor, and the ability to recolor elements is one of the main reasons why I started digi scrapbooking!

As a paper scrapper, I love many different styles and you will find some of pages with lots of layers and many embellishments which I think is different from some of the chaotic, can't find the picture pages I've seen digitally. I find if I digi scrap the same as I paper scrap, I am happy.

I have seen that too. With my layouts I try to make sure that the focus of the page is the picture, not the decorations.
