We are going to be in Pittsburgh next week. We are going to have time to actually enjoy the city this trip.
So, I am looking for places to eat. Normally, we eat lunch at Panera. However, I want to experience a local gem of an eatery. Lunch and dinner.
Thank you!

Not from Pittsburgh, but my friend lives there. I love Beer Church. Not sure what the real name is. It's a brewery in a de-consecrated Catholic Church. Google "beer church" and you should find it.

Pirmanti's is good! They put french fries and cole slaw on the sandwiches.
Are you staying downtown?

Primanti's, of course. Also, the Strip District is a fascinating place to walk around. Lots of shops and good food.

My daughter lived there last summer and we really enjoyed Pamela's - ate there twice. We didn't love Primanti Bros. I know that's sacrilege to admit, but we found the sandwiches strangely bland and they totally fell apart in our hands.

Pamelas is a brunchy kind of place but it is very good.
Meat & Potatoes, Pizza Sienna on the Square, Eleven, Emporio: A Meatball Joint, Grit & Grace and Sonoma Grill are all good places to get lunch downtown - you'll probably need reservations for Meat & Potatoes, Eleven and Sienna. On the North Shore (between PNC Park and Heinz Field) Burgatory and Bettis Grill.

It's the Church Brew Works . Cool place to eat. Market Square has tons of options. I would google (I will and get back to you with the ones I've enjoyed) and see all the options in MS. Lots of good places to eat!

Ok.... I peeked around. Places we have liked were.... 1. Sienna on the Square 2.Olive or Twist 3. Nola on the square
The other places that are amazing is Meat and Potato, Butcher and the Rye. If you pick one of these CALL TODAY! Reservations are tough as they book quickly!
If you do breakfast I would say DeLuca's or Pamela's in the strip....YUM!!

Love Pamela's. I am another who is not a fan of primanti's. If you go to Bettis stop in to the Tilted Kilt for a pre dinner drink.

Thank you!
I've already googled some of these places. Primanti's is located in closer proximity. So, I plan to try them in one of those areas.
Dh and I already talked about the Beer Church. I'm interested simply for the novelty factor.
I need to find out where some of the areas are located in proximity to dh's surgeon and whichever bike shops we visit.

My caveat: I haven't been to Pittsburgh in a number of years. However, when I used to go visit friends, we always had to go to Monterey Bay Fish Grotto. I really enjoyed the view, plus it was a pretty restaurant with awesome views overlooking the city. It's next to one of the inclines (can't remember which). Maybe it's gone downhill--not sure.

Primantis is the famous choice.
Stop and get a burnt almond torte cake at prantls bakery
Sarris chocolate is another great place for treats
If you make it to the south hills we like el pizziallo. Betos is another favorite. It's a unique pizza place that puts tons of fresh mozzarella on after the pizza is cooked.
The spaghetti warehouse is a neat place to eat.
Love burgatory for their spiked milkshakes
Pamelas is popular for their crepe type pancakes.
Maybe go to the strip district and pick a random place.
There are tons of new non chains all around. Where will you be a?

Not sure where the bike shops are either. I know there are a number from a previous search, when I was trying to find a certain bike for the boy. I do know where South Hills is, as we found that accidentally when we were first married. There is another area we like. I can't remember what it's called. There's a Cheesecake Factory, REI, Sur La Table, and what looks like a beer garden along the river. When he went to his last appointment, he and the boy stopped at a candy store and brought home far too much chocolate and fudge. Not Sarris, though. Gene and Boots?

It's actually outside of the city in a town called Aspinwall. The original Burgatory is right next door in the Waterworks shopping plaza. There is also a great Chinese/sushi restaurant across the street called Tai Pei. The other towns nearby on that side of the river are Fox Chapel and Sharpsburg. DH says the Grand Canal Cafe is a good Italian restaurant in Sharpsburg.
This is South Side Works. It marks one side of the South Side area with Station Square on the opposite end of East Carson street. Nakama is a good sushi place right in the middle of the two developments.
Yep, this is a candy shop from my side of Pittsburgh that has been growing in popularity with shops opening in malls.
If you have time, I do recommend just wandering the Strip District.

The Pittsburghers love Pirmanti's. We have one near us now, but have only eaten there once. My inlaws love Pamela's!
