SMH I haven't finished it yet either, between checking out the many links within the article and just being interrupted here in general. I find the whole thing disgusting. I hated when the casinos went to Atlantic City, but I knew a lot of people who enjoyed the adventure of hopping one of the many buses and going down for a day of entertainment. What a colossal clusterfuck to have turned that into such a series of failure. Just consider me someone who fully supports the Constitutional limits of the office of President of the US. It's our only check against the egos of the people who run for the office. |

I read the article yesterday. Trump constantly claims that he knows how to make money. Yes, he knows how to make money for himself. Based on that article, he didn't even do a very good job of that. He helped himself a great deal by shifting his personal debt around but still didn't do as well in Atlantic City as he could have. It is amazing that people believe this is a man who knows how to create jobs when he has started and shuttered so many businesses. He's defaulted on agreements with subcontractors.
His sole ability is supposed to be his business sense and clearly that is lacking and untrustworthy. I'm glad to see that the press is finally starting to dig and report rather than just repeat the outlandish quotes Trump makes and call that news.

A lot would depend on what happens within the Republican party between now and election day. For the office of President, I have voted Democrat, Republican and Independent already in my life. It's not because my values changed, but more because one party does not fit all.  As for the optimism.... I may abhor casinos, but I do gamble. And what I like to gamble on is people. We are a good people. Even the fights on this board are about different ideals of what is best for people in the long run. If we're not going to have faith in each other, who are we going to put our faith in? (Outside of a religious sense, obviously.) I'll put my money on the people of America every time. |

The article was very interesting, giving a lot more detail to the stories we've heard. I remember hearing a lot of it back when it was going on so it was interesting to read.
I walk away from the article wondering why he has such a following? If you were going to vote for him doesn't any of these things cause you concern? His business dealings/bankruptcies, the investors, the shifts of personal debt, the contractors he's not paid for their work or that have gotten little money on the dollar because of his bankruptcies? The bottom line always seems to come back to the fact that Trump is out for Trump.
I certainly don't want to start drama, but you know how when your opinion is so different it makes you think, what is the other perspective, why do they think what they think?

Today, this prick is on record of wanting to change the 2nd Amendment to exclude Muslim Americans but nary a word of maybe limiting the scope of weapons that can our citizens can arm themselves with.....sorry, I know this was about his four bankruptcies but after hearing his continued hateful inflammatory language I couldn't help myself from commenting on it.

Everyone I know who has ever met Joe Biden has remarked on what a genuine, kind man he was, both Republican and Democrat. Sometimes I think that has worked against him as VP, because what you see is what you get, with no filter. I really like him a lot. More than any of the candidates we had. I think he is a great guy who is very devoted to his constituents and to his family. I am not, however, convinced he would be a great president. I do wish he had been an option though. |

The reality is all you are accomplishing is pointing out the obvious and getting patted on the back by everyone who already wouldn't vote for Trump (or Republican for that matter).
And the same can be said of any threads about how awful Hillary is. The people who agree already know. The people who don't agree will never agree. And the people who are stuck with her as a candidate can't really do anything about it.
Because if I have to see 5 more months of how awful Trump is and how awful Hillary is, I'm going to lose my freaking mind.

I've cast votes that were definitely against the candidate I wasn't voting for rather than for the candidate I was. It sucks being in that position. I feel bad for your entire country when it comes to this election. The thing that bugs me most is that you and I both know that these weren't the best candidates your country had to offer. Yet we've sat here over the past year shaking our heads a people voted for them in the primaries. They both suck. We may disagree on which one sucks more but I can't imagine wasting time trying to defend a candidate that is, IMO, indefensible even if I think they are the best of the worst. |

Most of these threads are just "they are what they are" people posting their opinions, articles that come across their feeds, etc. some more "passionately" than others. I don't always agree with another in political threads, but I wouldn't try to tell you how you should cast it! I just tell my friends here that we do the best we can with how we process it. I choose from those who make it to the ballot (even if my first/favorite choice is out). It's how it always goes every 4 years! |

I have learned quite a bit about both candidates from the threads (before they blow off into the playground, of course), so some of them have been helpful for me - on both sides.
As to your first question - I have no idea, but I hope they do *something*. If a candidate is supposed to represent the party, how do situations like this even happen? Same with the Dems.
