You can touch it IF you have already won it. Hmm never heard that before and you rarely see any team touch it when they are presented with so they must believe the urban legend too lol you'll see teams that have already won the Cup grab it or if only a couple players have won, then they grab it while everybody else ignores it. Brodeur and Stevens of the Devils did in 2000 and 2003 and won both years. The Blackhawks last year took a picture with theirs, but many had already won the cup. I googled and found this en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_Conference_FinalsIt is interesting

Two weeks ago, the Stanley Cup (and its handler!) were at my house for a photo session! My dh was on the Memorial Cup host committee, and they had both trophies there for fans to have pictures with. Before the Stanley Cup was flown out, we got a private visit--I'm not sure my husband has ever been that excited before, including our wedding and kids' births, lol! Very cool!!! That would definitely make my year!

I have lived in Pgh. for 26 years and have never been able to cheer for a Pgh. team (except once). I lived in Troy, MI for about 2 yrs. and fell in love with all their teams and the city! My oldest was born in Royal Oak and lived there 2 months and she is a Red Wings fan! We love Michigan! I seriously just texted my DD's boyfriend. We both agreed years ago that Detroit sports fans are born, not bred! Now I can tell him I've talked to someone who actually *chose* to be a Detroit fan!! My siblings & I became Pittsburgh fans because we wanted something to cheer along with Grandma about (she who I get my sports craziness from). Cause battle lines were drawn in college sports, Grandma & cousins who lived Ohio, & my family, who lived in Michigan (except my Dad, who is still a die hard Ohio State fan. Pretty sure he was dropped on his head at least 10 times as a baby!). Fun times! My dad is from the Pittsburgh area, but half of his moms family moved to Michigan for jobs. So I have family in Southfield and we went there to visit every summer. My family now lives in Rochester and Oxford. My husband and I went to Troy for his business trip a few months ago and it was so fun to be back in the area. We plan to go for a couple days this month with the kids! I bought my daughter Red Wings and Tigers outfits to take with us when we moved back to Pgh. When she was 1, the Tigers played the Pirates in Pgh. and we took her dressed in Tigers outfit to the game. She got on tv!

I'm the one who shows up to Cardinals games decked out in Tigers gear. But really, they just feel sorry for me!
