I scrap for myself because it's my hobby, but I also want my kids to know how very much they are loved. But today, I found another reason. My 2 older brothers, both in their late 40's, stopped by and I pulled out 2 albums from family trips to Sedona that we all went on together 10 and 11 years ago. Just 2 weeks ago we went on a family trip to Sedona in honor of what would have been our fathers 72nd birthday. He used to work as a park Ranger and he absolutely loved it there! The place holds lots of great memories for us all. Well they where absolutely filled with joy as they sat and looked thru the albums, and laughed and reminisced! They couldn't believe the pictures I had and where so happy! Of course at the time I took the pictures, I didn't know how important they would be as we would lose Dad just 6 years after our last trip there. My one brother had tears in his eyes! They asked for copies of certain pics, cause of course pain in the ass little sister the scrapbooker would always force everyone together for group pics with dad! My oldest brother turned and looked at me with a smile on his face and pats me on the back and says, "good job little sister" It made me so happy to see they joy that my scrapbooks brought my brothers! My kids love looking thru them all the time, and now my great nephew, only 2 and a half loves coming over and looking thru them as well! When nieces and nephews come to visit they always wanna look thru Tia's scrapbooks and get a kick out of finding themselves when they where small and having a good laugh! Now I see that I'm not just doing it for my kids, I'm doing it for my entire family, and it made my heart so very happy!! And this is why I love this hobby!

This is beautiful. Thanks for sharing this story with us. I know the feeling of people not wanting to have their picture taken but they appreciate it later. This is a good reminder to me to include pictures of more family and friends in our albums. Thank you.

Beautiful! TFS. I hope one day I'll be able to say the same thing about my niece (now aged 2 1/2).

I have found that it is the photos and not all the fluff that people enjoy when looking at my books. The fluff is for me to enjoy my hobby. If I could go back I'm not sure I would change because I enjoy it so much, but only fellow scrapbookers notice my cool palm tree sticker or my coordinating palm tree paper, lol!

Our scrapbooks are the stories of the people we love, the places we go and the things we do together. Time (and money) spent scrapbooking is never wasted: our scrapbooks are a chronicle of our lives to be shared with future generations we haven't yet met. Thanks for reminding us all of how important this hobby is. Good job, lil sis. Exactly! So very well said. Thanks!

This is a sweet story. Glad they got to see your books and that they let you know how positive they feel about them.
I DO scrapbook for me. But it always gives me pleasure to see the kids and grandkids looking through the albums, reliving the good times.

What a wonderful story! I am so glad they loved the scrapbooks. Could you have them photocopied and surprise your brothers with their own copy?

That is so great. This weekend I had a girls' weekend with friends and I brought a scrapbook along from a trip 3 of us took in 2002. They loved looking at it. There are so many details that I forget as time goes by. I enjoy reading my own journalling.

I've always done it for myself. I don't have kids so that album subject is non existent. I just like to work with my hands and I especially love doing papercrafts. it's a great hobby, relaxer, stress reliever, etc.
