Hi! Already thinking ahead to next summer's vacation - we vacation every other year and since this is an "off" year, I have plenty of time to dream ;-)
We are kicking around a few ideas for the next vacation, and one of them is a multi-generation lakehouse vacation in Michigan. I know there are many beautiful spots, but almost seems like too many beautiful spots because pinpointing a location seems difficult.
So, where is the best lake vacation spot in Michigan? We would have 5 teenagers in our group so would love a place that has a lot of good activities for teens nearby.
Thanks!!

Just about any town on the Lake Michigan or Lake Superior shoreline is good.
If you go further north on the LP, there's Michigan Adventure (think slightly watered down Cedar Point), Boyne Mountain Resorts.
For teenagers, I recommend Boyne Mountain Resorts - there's ziplines, kayaking, horseback riding, golf and more plus a variety of choices for staying AND an indoor waterpark that has a surf pool and a couple other fun rides. We're going there for a couple days this summer and in looking at their rooms, I found they also have condos.
If you want to go all hiking and whatnot, do the UP and Lake Superior.

We had a great vacation a few years back in the Traverse City area. Sleeping Bear Dunes was a big hit. Beautiful area, gorgeous weather.

We love Charlevoix (near Petoskey and Traverse City, all great places to visit) and Mackinac Island. Mackinac Island does not allow cars. You can rent bicycles and ride the 8 mile loop around the island. It's beautiful. You can also ride a horse-drawn carriage, have tea at the Grand Hotel (where the movie "Somewhere in Time" was filmed), and eat delicious fudge. Sleeping Bear Dunes is near Traverse City. Sunset on the dunes is gorgeous.
