Yesterday Lacey played extra hard at the dog park, so when she threw up about a half hour later, I thought that might have been the cause. I fed her a small portion of plain white rice for dinner, but she threw that up later as well. She also had a very loose stool. Contacted my vet via e-mail to find out if he was working today and he told me that they have seen so many of these cases this past week that the vet techs joked they didn't even need him to treat the dogs.
He recommended I get some FortiFlora and feed her normally. I gather that's a better probiotic than Optigest.
Her behavior otherwise has been as peppy as usual. As a matter of fact, at 4a.m. she was playing with her ball. Thank goodness the squeaker is broken, but she seems to like the repeated "whoosh" sound as she clamps down on it.
She isn't dehydrated, so that's a relief. He said if she gets worse, they may want to put her on an antibiotic, otherwise, it's just a bug that's going around. Dog park, no dog park, all sorts of dogs and situations.
Just thought I'd let you know so you can be on the look out.

How big is your dog park? We have 2 dog parks near us. Both of them are really big. When I used to take my dogs there they didn't socialize with other dogs much as they would rather run and sniff. Is this a problem with really social dogs? Mine are seniors and don't really care to sniff other dogs they don't know and they can't run or walk the dog park anymore Anyway I wonder if it's more common in more social and younger dogs and at a smaller dog park with more dogs?
