Is that such a weird thing to ask of the industry?
No, most people don't set out to become single mothers or fathers. (Some do)
But I get a little frustrated every time I can't use a product because it has "Our" attached to it.
Stickers, PL cards, etc with:
"Our Greatest Adventure"
"Our Little Bundle Of Joy"
"Our Son/Daughter"
"Our Greatest Gift"
And, industry, while you're at it, can we not have everything son related say "Just Like Daddy"? "Tough Like Daddy"? "Smart Like Daddy"?
Because sometimes that's the very last thing you want your son to be. And maybe (thankfully) he's nothing like daddy.
Can we have singular possessive on the stickers, PL cards, etc?
"My Son/Daughter"
"My Greatest Adventure"
"My Bundle of Joy"
"My Greatest Gift"

That's a great idea. Even if the person making the page isn't a single parent, those titles/themes still work (and they would also work great for an individual grandparent too).

Along those same lines, I'd love supplies geared toward single people without kids: my vacation, my favorite things, etc. Not everyone is part of an "our."

Great point! I recently bought two sets of this line for my grandkids scrapbooks. Their parents are divorced. MOM

Agreed, although, we have no kids, so if it's a LO just about me, I put tiny letter stickers over the word "our" to make it say "my", or "I". I know it's not the same, but I have done that a time, or two. Ive learned from Shimelle to make my supplies work for me.

Now I have seen quite a few products that say My related to moms so I will cut off the 'our' and put my. For Our bundle of Joy I cut off Our and just use bundle of joy.
I am always altering stickers and embellishments by cutting them and moving pieces around. Until you can find what you want go through your stash and see what you can cut up and move around.
There was a college sticker that said My dorm room. Well my son didn't live in the dorm so I cut off dorm and it said My room. It can feel satisfying to make things work from other things.

And I understand those who say "make your supplies work for you," but I shouldn't have to alter nearly every little thing. To me, it can end up looking like a bandage -- an obvious cover-up.

So many ways to not have this problem--buy letter stickers, alphabet dies, letter stamps, an electronic cutter?

So many ways to not have this problem--buy letter stickers, alphabet dies, letter stamps, an electronic cutter? I do have those. And use them often. Sometimes I like the look of a PL card, but wish it was geared more toward my situation.

We must be shopping for very different things because I do not have the problem of having to fix every little thing. In fact, it doesn't happen all that often to me. I can frequently find just what I need, and when I don't many times I can fix it and it looks good! Your post made me wonder what specific things you are have to alter. Maybe we have some ideas.

Having done several PL style baby books, I found that I was always looking for the word OUR. Lots of the cards had "My little angel" for example, and I wanted it to reflect that the whole family loved this kid. I managed by doing my own word, as myboysnme suggests. But my style is pretty torn and layered, so my "fixes" fit in with the rest of the LO in most cases. I didn't pretend I wasn't fixing. Stuck the new word or words on top of a circle or star or other shape, and glued it down on top of the word I was replacing. I just think we need more word stickers that say general words like I, me, We, our, the, in, and, or, words we can stick in to titles we create ourselves (stickers or diecut) or into our journaling. I have several Tim Holtz Ideology chit chat books, but I have used up all the common words, and am left with about 1000 "Imagine" and "creativity". Sorry, Tim, I don't use those words very much in my own creative pursuits!

Perhaps get in touch with one of the journaling card designers there and talk about your specific needs. You probably aren't alone.

As for PL type cards, you can create your own pretty easily using the collage feature in the Scraproom / Gather software, or with with a little more work using PSE. With all the free fonts and digital scrapping freebies out there, you can probably do a lot more than you'd think.

Possible stupid question alert: If I were to buy a printable PL card on Etsy, where and how to I print them so they look professional quality?

If you have a printer at home, you can use that or you can have it done at an office supply store that prints/copies.

You can email the file to the store email (they can give it to you on the phone) and you can tell them you want it printed on Cardstock. Or if you use a smart phone, some stores are set up to accept print orders via the web. You pull it up on your smart phone while standing in the store and select an air printer. I like a textured Cardstock like Bazzill...but mostly what stores have is smooth. If you want textured, take it with you.

I am not very techy and have never tried to use any of the on line stuff, but I HAVE printed journaling cards and titles at home with an HP inkjet printer and Staples cardstock. You can get different finishes and weights on the cs. It all prints pretty nicely. And the edges ink nicely. So far, I have had no problem with longevity in my albums. For journaling cards, I will sometimes use MS Word, insert a 3x5 or 4x6 textbox with a border and typed in lines, and then maybe insert an image or a Word Art on top, or separately, fussy cut and then pasted over the text box. If I want more shine on the finish, I might cover the image with Glossy Accents afterward.

You can download GIMP freeware, it's similar to Photoshop Elements (from what I've been told) and it's free. I haven't ever used it because I've always had PSE or something else. GIMP software

I have had very good results printing PL cards at home using Epsom ultra premium presentation paper in matte finish. I found a big difference between the Epsom paper and regular cardstock.
