My dishwasher decided to stop working. Well, I can hear it WORKING on something, because it does make the sounds of going through a cycle. But I think it might not be taking in water and washing the dishes. The dishes are not clean, and I found the dishwasher tablet at the bottom barely dissolved at the end of the cycle.
It's a few years old, about 7-8 years. Is there an easy fix to this or is it ripe for replacement?

that is the age to replace..but I would be tempted to check that it is not just something blocking the hose.

Some of the piping for my dishwasher is under my sink. When I have issues, I put a bucket under them and take them apart. Sometimes if the pipes are clogged and the garbage disposal isn't draining the water, then the dishwaher will fill up. I know, opposite problem of yours, but it is worth a try. Unfortunately, as you probably know, alot of appliances are not lasting more than that time frame. You might Google your problem also to see what it may be.

Just replace it. We had the same issue, replaced ours, had it installed (there was a rebate so installation was free) and found that the old one had been leaking into the side of the cabinet.

might be water deposits clogging up the water? can you pour some CLR in there and run a cycle to maybe clean it out?

Have you done anything with your garbage disposal recently? Sometimes working on a disposal can cause a plumbing issue with the dishwasher.

Our Bosch stopped pumping in water when it was just over a year old - right out of warranty. It would work fine if I added a bucket of water to it at the three parts of the cycle (rinse, wash, rinse). It would run the cycle and empty the water each time, but no new water would come in.
I Youtubed it and tried the tricks that I could do by myself, but in the end called the repairman and it was $150 replace a water pump part. It has worked perfectly since - that was about 3 years ago.
