When someone posts a thread that warrants an update, and the original thread is kind of a...touchy subject, and you do NOT click like, due to the subject...do you then click like once an update (most likely positive) is posted?
Does that make sense? I know I have read posts that need advice, or something bad has happened, and I did not originally click like, due to the negitive undertone. BUT, once an update is posted, if the mood of the update has changed from the original mood, I will click like. When I look back at them, though, it feels weird to me that there are likes on an originally negative post, but want to let the OP know that I am happy with their update, if I have nothing further to add to the post.
What do YOU do in those situations?

I would just say that in a comment... I like your update, or something to that effect.

I really don't give that much thought to likes. If I post something sad or troubling and someone likes it, I don't think they actually LIKE it, they are just acknowledging and showing support without responding in a post.

To me it would look like they liked their update. And the OP would most likely know they liked their update and not their original post if they noticed they have a 'like' now, when before they didn't, and/or their notification is on for whenever someone likes their posts. So no I don't think it's silly.

I would click like with the intention that I saw the post, not that I actually liked the post.

Yes, I click Like when there's an improved update. I figure the OP will understand.
