I know there are some who understand. for too long I didn't want to use certain papers or embellies for fear I would no longer find them or worst I wouldn't like what I've created with them and be upset because there's no way to get anymore..... After looking through my MASSIVE stash it finally clicked... What am I am afraid of? Saving supplies for what? I dove in and grabbed some stuff and I'm going to town with trimmer and the like. For those who are afraid, don't be. Come on in the water's warm! I will post a layout full of "old"stuff when I'm done! The newest item on this page is the picture, taken last month lol pattern paper autumn leaves faux seals sonnets making memories, bookplate, eyelet letter "w",hinge, decorative brad, and heart, vellum round and heart tags, oval clip (I'm going to use up all the metal I have if it's the last thing I do, lol) scrapworks fabric tab (inside the bookplate in case you're wondering) c'oredinations cardstock cuttlebug folders, Scripture and Damask vellum scrap dressup heart buttons tattered angels postcards corrugated scrap

I've never had a problem cutting up paper. But, it's hard to tell from my stash - it's just that I buy it faster than I can use it!

Atta girl!
I will admit, I do have a hard time hacking into a 12x12 piece of paper just to cut a strip. But if I truly can't find anything else that works, I will do it. In fact, all my cs & paper are in those vertical Cropper Hopper thingies & I have a section in front of each one that is just for the leftover pieces when I cut just a teensy bit off a a 12x12 sheet.
I used to save my embellishments for 'the perfect layout' and one day I realized that not only is there no such thing, but the companies will always be making something new & lovely so I never have to worry about needing something later on. There will always be something.
Scrap away, sister!

I have no trouble cutting into paper when I need to use it, my problem is I just keep buying more (and more)!!! I have a big basket full of scraps that I will rummage through first, then if there is not something there, out comes the trimmer. I decided "saving" something for that perfect page was never going to happen. Usually by the time I had found the perfect photos for that paper, that paper was not so perfect any more Have fun and cut away!!

I have no problems cutting into paper either. Depends what I am working on & how motivated I am as to whether I go through scraps or just cut into coordinating sheets. I will never run out of supplies, so using them does not bother me; in fact, I feel good when I use them!

Love2Scrap, I used to be like that too - always afraid that I would ruin my pretty paper! Now, after collecting a huge amt. of pp, I've begun to realize that even if I make a wrong cut, I can still use that paper somehow. And it's not like I don't have more paper to use. It's not diamond-cutting! Maria

I have felt like this so often. I'm getting a lot better about not saving things to use for the perfect layout. But it still happens where I can't use a favorite use of paper.

I've never had a problem cutting up paper. But, it's hard to tell from my stash - it's just that I buy it faster than I can use it! This is me. Using a piece of paper makes me very happy. But I have such a huge stash it doesn't even seem to matter.

I used to think "oh, that it too nice, too special, too whatever" for this page. Now I just go for it.

I also love cutting into my paper! I learned a couple years ago to use it while you love it. I'd rather use it on a page than sit around. Even though we won't get the same piece of paper we love if we use it, there will always be another piece we love just as much coming out.
Same thing with embellies!

I've never had a problem cutting up paper. But, it's hard to tell from my stash - it's just that I buy it faster than I can use it!I do too! But sometimes I am afraid of cutting up a pear and hating the LO (I am a newbie) and then I have ruined a perfectly beautiful paper. But I am forcing myself on doing it anyway, because if I don't I won't get any better at scrapbooking. I do have to make mistakes because I have to learn from them. I keep repeating it to myself, over and over again. But I still feel frightened. About purchasing a lot, I have been thinking on join a kit club. Things come in matching colors and patterns, embelies too. This might help me stop buying every nice piece of paper and embellishment I see in the store.

I'm not so bad with paper but I do have a tendency to hoard embellishments. Then years latee I wonder what I was thinking buying eleventy million flower centers from Prima

I used to have an issue with that but one of my friends who was an avid stamper helped me get over it. I use a ton of patterned papers and she showed me different ways of cutting into it to get all sorts of designs and patterns. Sometimes fussy cutting can be very cathartic after a hard day.
Now, I use anywhere from 3 to 5 papers per layout and love all the layering and the expanded color palette. And BTW, I love the diamond analogy: that is too funny!

I have similar problem, but I am finally letting it go. I have been recently creating some unique papers painting on Deli Wrap --and I get carried away doing this--and have created some very pretty papers, each entirely unique and can't be replicated (hmmm unless I scanned and printe), anyway, I have been using almost every tiny scrap to create envelopes (which takes the largest section and shows off paper nicely) then using bits on the card to go inside. If you want to see some of these here is my blog: pauinesstuff.blogspot.comSo I have plastic baggies of these scraps. Even used some to create paper/hot glue bangle bracelets

I have no prob cutting into paper. I have a problem throwing away leftovers though ... Even tiny bitty strips n pieces :/ same here. I actually have the opposite problem, I think that I need to save more often than I do! I'm so afraid of a mess and hoard of supplies that I can't find/use, I throw almost everything away! If they seem usable pieces, then I throw in a box for my mom and sister to go through (they are much better at saving pieces). I'm thinking if I had a better system for saving pieces of paper and card stock that aren't full sizes, maybe I'd save more?? Ehhhh.

I struggle with this issue as well. I always worry that I'll want to use the supplies for something later. Slowly grasping the concept that now is better and I should just use my supplies. There will always be more for later.

I just cut up a dozen sheets of Authentique and MME paper that I had been holding back on. It was actually pretty liberating.
