My 15 dd is a music nut! She is asking for this service, but I haven't done my research on it, so I thought I'd just go to the P's and see what experiences you all have had! Do you feel $10 a month is appropriate fee? What do you like, dislike about it? Do you keep the music once you cancel the subscription? Is it linked through an Itunes account? Because we have three phones on the same Itunes account right now (DH, me & DD) Are there limits to the music you can download? Do you find most/all of the music you look for? Any specific musician/band you haven't found available on Apple Music? Thanks for any help you can provide!

We have it and love it. Keeps my teens from asking to download a song or album every few days as their tastes change so quickly. Hasn't caused any problems. It's pretty much like Spotify or any other music streaming service, but has (I believe) the entire iTunes catalog available.
We also had iTunes match and that did cause some kind of issue with DH's computer, but I don't remember what the problem was, exactly. He has ripped literally hundreds of CDs from 20+ years of ownership onto a hard drive and didn't want to risk losing that somehow. We ended up canceling it.

I like it. If you already have a lot of music you want to sync with it.. might not be good as raindancer link shows. We didn't and find 90% of the music we want is on it.

We have it and it's been well worth the cost. You can listen to or download any song on the iTunes library.

I had a trial with Apple, Spotify Premium and Tidal (lossless version). They all pretty much ended in the past month or so. I decided not to go ahead with any of them and just continue with the Spotify free version. If I did want to pay for a service though I would probably go with Spotify Premium. Mainly because its interface is more useable. Tidal was pretty good too. I felt Apple was a bit clunky. I probably have an unfounded paranoia about Apple also so prefer to stay away when it comes to my music. I do have an iphone and ipad.
I did the trials because I wanted to see which interface I prefered and also how often I would use it. I don't listen to music much on my mobile devices though and instead use a player central in my house which I've connected to my music collection on my PC which given I'm older than 15 is pretty large enough to keep me busy.
Maybe she can do trials of all 3 services and see which she prefers. I believe they all have family plans. Taylor Swift is not on Spotify though if she likes her.

I've been avoiding iTunes these past two years because the user interface is no longer one-click and be there like it was in the past. We have a family subscription to Spotify and we love it. We can download songs for offline listening.

I listened to Apple Radio, but did not switch over to Apple Music. We have so many issues as it is with iTunes due to multiple accounts since 2003. Trying to figure out what song is allowed under which account, frustrating. Plus, I also read the article linked above and would be pissed if that ended up being my experience. My husband ripped every CD we both owned since the early 80s. It was a massive project I don't care to repeat. Now I either listen to what I have purchased / ripped in the last 13 years or Pandora. I don't care about the occasional commercial.

I've done both Apple Music and Spotify Premium. My personal preference is Spotify. I think their UI is exponentially better than Apple Music, and I think their catalog is just about as good as Apple's. I have had weird issues with some of my music disappearing on iTunes, too. I don't know what the issue is, and frankly, with as clunky as it's all become, I've been too frustrated and lazy to figure it out and fix it. Getting my lost (as in *poof* they were gone, and yes all my old phone data was backed up) ringtones back was hard enough when I switched to an iPhone 6s from a 4s. At the end of all that, even with lots of time on the phone with Apple people, the best they could do was issue me iTunes store credit to buy new ones. But some of them are no longer available. The only thing I like better about Apple Music is that you can do a family membership for $14.99. DS (23) had done Spotify Premium on his own all through college, and when Apple Music became available, he talked me into trying the trial and Family thing. When we first switched over, I hated the Apple Interface and lack of easily available playlists. DS told me I was being old and crotchety (not entirely untrue) and to give it some time and get used to it. He is into all kinds of hard to find music and was convinced Apple had a better selection. After about a year, he told me he was going back to his own Spotify Premium account, and that he had decided he liked Spotify Premium better.

We have the apple family subscription with no problems. My daughter was killing me asking to buy music all the time. I like listening to my playlists at work too. It works for us. Good luck with your decision

Amazon Prime has a radio station too! I personally like Amazon Prime, but she doesn't because it doesn't have all the latest and greatest music as soon as it is released! I love my oldies! As for Apple, If you cancel Apple music - Do you lose all of that music that you had downloaded?

With Apple Music if you have ripped a lot of music or have made your own, the service can mess you up royally. If you have the Genius/Music Match thing on my understanding is that Apple searches it's own database and will replace your music with what they have. So if you have an album version that is different than what is with Apple, they replace it with THEIRS. This causes problems for anyone that makes their own tracks. That music won't be in the Apple database and you could loose it. I had read an article from a few weeks ago about how this happened to this guy who had a lot of his own music. Back up like crazy and don't let Apple access all your copies. I never took Apple up on their free trail. So glad I didn't because I have a crap load of ripped CDs (though I do have an external harddrive I use for backups). My son is trying out Spotify. He's no longer using Apple products. I use a free radio app from Stingray to listen to more newer music or torture my kids by putting on the 80s channel. I have enough music already I don't feel the need to have access to so much at once.
