I'd love to know if you find any suggestions. PCOS sucks.

For some reason I am having issues copy and pasting to create links, but if you google Soul Cysters, it is a fairly busy forum. But for specific answers to your questions I'd ask your ob/gyn or an endocrinologist. I have had a couple of endocrinologists that were very well informed on the topic and current treatments.

This fb group I'm in is helpful. It's searchable on fb but closed so you will needed to request to be added. Just type in. PCOS Support Group [Worldwide] <--- just like that and it should pop up.

Thank you -I have PCOS but was diagnosed fairly late (age 40) but my 16 y/o is currently being evaluated for it - she had an ovarian/uterine ultrasound today - and my questions/concerns for her are different and I feel like I'm starting from scratch info-wise. I'll check out Soul Cysters

I've googled till my fingers can't google any more. Hence me asking.
1) does PCOS cause weight gain or does weight gain cause PCOS (there is some kind of relation between the two right?)
2) how does the pill help you lose weight? Ortho-cyclin in particular

You realize two of the four top results are not reputable? It never ever hurts to ask for first hand recommendations.n

Ortho-cyclin in particular A lot of people think PCOS causes weight gain I can only say for me what I shove in my mouth and my lack of exercise is what caused me to gain weight (that and being on steroids for years for other health issues). Now it is much MUCH harder for PCOS people to lose the weight but it's not impossible. Low carb diet it the best for PCOS...you will find that out in your research. Meds for PCOS work for some and don't do anything for others. Years ago I was on meds and it did nothing for me in regards to weight loss and the other PCOS side effects. Ive known many people who have completely "cured" their own PCOS by losing weight. Once the weight fell off they were able to have a period, kids, facial hair went away (some get this..some don't) and they're neck wasn't dark anymore (side effect). PCOS can run in the family. My sister has it also and I believe my mom had it however she was never diagnosed with it. As as far as gaining weight causing PCOS, I've known a good bit of girls who are skinny and have it as well but with me I didn't develop PCOS symptoms until I really started gaining weight quickly (due to meds) when I was a teenager. My periods stopped and I started getting other PCOS side effects as well. Once I lost some weight my periods came back in full force (oh and period time can be more painful also for people with this). Its really important that you or whoever has this find a Dr who knows about PCOS because I've had a Dr. not know anything about it and he was very unhelpful. Good luck! I hope this was helpful.

Also often there are fertility issues associated with it so (oh my gosh, I can't think of the name), oh yah, the group Resolve can offer support. It can be related to blood sugar issues too so some of the meds for that can help.
