I have had a box of miscellaneous ink pads for many years that I used for embellishments, a real hodge podge. Now I want to do more stamping and need to round out my collection of inks. I have the following
all the Tim Holtz distress mini ink pads (I love his stuff) and the 4 color archival pad black/gray/light brown/dark brown Staz On black/white/brown Cats eye chalk inks fall/christmas colors Brilliance white/brown. Antiquities pigment blue/gray Petal Point pigment ink Mist miscellaneous double dabbers that are ancient but still work. Versa fine black Versamark pad/pen Embossing inks
I don't remember why I bought so many pigment inks and am thinking I need more dye inks to use with the distress inks or for mixed media projects instead. Is there anything I missed that is on your MUST HAVE list?

The ones I use the most are memento, versamark, versafine and India ink (archival black) . I also like distress inks for blended backgrounds but I don't use them that often. I have most of the SU inks which I like for solid stamping but I tried some from altenew and like it better.

Archival ink I have about 10 colours. They work the best for me. I have a ton of other brands and variety of kinds and colours. But I know my archival will just work. I will never give up my other ones though

I did a clean out a year ago and got rid of a lot of pigment, chalk, and CTMH inks.
My must haves are VersaMark, and a good black. These two are kept on my work table at all times. I use these two on almost every project.
I also have TH Distress Inks but I buy those in the 1" cubes only.
And have a "rainbow" of other colors of dye inks from SSS, HA, MFT and SU!. Probably only about 20 colors total.
I also have a SSS white pigment ink. But usually if I need white I use VersaMark and white embossing powder. Pigment inks are just too squishy and gooey for me and I make a mess of my project.

My must haves are Papertrey Ink dye inks (because I use the card stock for card making), Versafine Onyx Black - my go-to black ink except when I'm colouring with copics when I use Memento. Plus Versamark for embossing. I also have quite a good selection of Amuse pigment inks. These are the same formulation as Fresh pigment inks @giantsfan - they are fast drying (for pigment) and not too squishy.

Does anyone use other colors of Staz On much, I was thinking of buying a gray pad. I will buy some other colors of dye inks and may give the pigment pile to my nieces. Thanks everyone.

For black inks I have- Versafine, StazOn, Memento, Brilliance
For colors I have all the Stampin Up dye inks, Distress Inks, a few Brillance inks and Studio G. I know Studio G must have raised a couple of brows. I really love them.
SU- I wanted a nice collection of colored inks. I am one of the weird ones that likes the old flip top design. I love the stamp pads are so big. Gives me lots of room for techniques.
Distress- To do blended backgrounds. I don't stamp with them.
Studio G- Those are my tiny stamp pads. Fun for quick stamping.
Brilliance- They are sparkly. Seriously, that is the reason I have them. Oh, they stamp beautiful on vellum and Ranger's glossy paper.
Black Inks- To do line stamping on a variety of materials. Versafine for color pencils, Memento for alcohol markers, Brillance for vellum, StazOn for acetate.
I almost forgot Versamark for embossing. My favorite for Versamark. I ink my stamp with Versamark and then Ink with Stampin Up. Then I have my own pigment ink. It is one of the oldest stamping techniques and I can't remember what it's called at the moment. I have a migraine and have been sick. Forgive me for "fog".

Black ink: I love Versafine...gives the best image plus it's great for heat embossing.
All others: I exclusively use Stampin' Up! Classic Ink Pads. Not a shocker...haha!! Yes, I'm a SU! demonstrator but love all brands of ink pads. These are just my go to inks.

Memento for my Copic coloring Versamark for embossing Versafine for my clear stamps.. this does take extra time to dry if you don't heat set it.. India ink for everything else.. Stazon as a last resort because I know I will have to reink the pad right before I use it because it tends to dry out so fast..

Memento Tuxedo Black stays on my craft table full time! I also use about 20 other colors of Memento for vellum and glossy cardstock. StazOn in about 10 colors that I for water color techniques, for use on overlays, or pearls that are the wrong color and so on. Versafine for fine line stamps. Vera Color for pigment ink applications and heat embossing. Pigment inks are best for heat embossing Brilliance for the shimmer. Delicata for the shimmer and shine and they never dull. Memento Luxe for fabric and pigment ink applications. Using ink blushers to get an ombre effect is easy. Encore Metallics have been with me for over 15 years and I just got reinkers for a few of them. Love the soft metallic colors for card making. Neon inks for fun! (I must disclose that I am on the Design Team for Imagine Crafts, so I am a bit biased towards our products. I get to play with them all and see which ones I like best, lucky me!)

Archival inks and Hero Hues India ink are my favorite and the ones used most often. They are waterproof, and I need that because I use mine mostly with mixed media.
