I'm trying to clean out a lot of supplies in my craft/office/junk room so my toddler can finally have her own real bedroom. I'd like to sell, rather than swap if I can since I hardly have enough time for crafting this days and I just have WAY too much stuff. What is the best way to sell? EBay? Amazon? Etsy? FB groups (if so, which? (I am not part of any)).

Once you reach 50 posts here, you can sell on the FSOT board here. There are also a couple facebook groups you can request to join. I've not had luck with ebay or amazon really. The fees are so high these days! I ended up donating a ton of supplies to the Salvation Army that I couldn't get sold (after saving some for my sister and mother). ETA- Here's a link to a Facebook group and here's another one. One's called Studio Calico and the other is Project Life, but they aren't picky about what brands of stuff you can sell. There should be rules listed that you can read once you're accepted. Let me know if you need an invite! |

message boards are good so you can mail out the stuff and not meet like you would on Craigslist or Letgo. because EBay's fees are higher, i would only list stuff with are priced more so it's worth the effort. the small stuff i would sell in lots.

I would sell in lots, whenever possible, unless it is a higher priced tool.
I wouldn't expect to get much for my stuff though. With sb stuff available at places like Tuesday Morning, there are many cheap options and it's hard to move stuff.

I'm in New Zealand and only sell stuff with a potentially higher value - l've done quite well with surplus stamps and dies but wouldn't bother with more general stuff. I use our local equivalent of Ebay which works quite well but people are really looking for something for virtually nothing! So cheaper stuff I just give/donate or recycle.

Do you have any crops near you? I ask because at some of the crops I go to they let us sell stuff. sometimes we donate a little fee to do so. Also if you have any rummage sales in your area sometimes you can get a table.
Do you have friends who want to sell some of their stash as well? We had great luck getting together and advertising huge scrapbook and stamp supply sale. We had lots of people come to it! We did this maybe 10 times over the years.

I keep going back to eBay and figure the fees make up for the wider audience and higher price. Larger items I have had decent luck with on Craigslist, although it seems very spotty in my area for scrapbook supplies lately. I have had a few items that I didn't want to deal with shipping and haven't had a single inquiry. In general, it seems the demand is down for scrapbooking and I see it picking up for stamping supplies.
I joined one of the FB groups - I would try it again but selling in that manner is confusing for me, plus a pain to match the stuff and person when I have limited access to facebook at times.
I would love to participate in a big craft garage sale sometime and it would probably make me do a big purge of little stuff. I give to crafty friends or donate a fair amount, but I hang onto a lot that I'd rather have "just in case" than give away.

When I sold all my stuff off I used a combination (Craigslist, Ebay, TwoPeas when it was still alive and Facebook) I had the best luck with Facebook for most things. I just searched for Scrapbook buy/sell groups and joined just long enough to sell it all off. Higher end tools (like my Cameo, punches, etc) I sold on Ebay.

I buy quite a lot of things off a few different facebook groups. Some of the sellers are individuals selling excess stash and others are repeat sellers selling small amounts of new goods, search for groups with the biggest amount of members and local area groups, I love to be able to pick up from my local area.
I have not bought anything from e-bay in a long time but in Australia there has been a huge drop in the amount of scrapbook goods and sellers on there.

I'm not so sure that selling in LOTs is a good idea. There is a LOT of 6 stamp sets on Ebay for $49. I only want two of the sets. I am going to pass on that auction.
A FB group I belong to, one person was selling Ink Pads, she had 3 yellows in a LOT, I only wanted one, so I passed.
I rarely find any scrappy good on Craigslist, and if I do, people usually want top dollar for older things.
But, Ebay is still my go to place for things I can't find online.

I have stuff for sale as well. I don't want to have to deal with the hassle of shipping costs. I used to have great luck with Craig's list. I'm not sure what happened with that site. Now all I see listed on the arts and crafts section is hanging art, tatoo art and stuff like that. I truley wish they had a seperate section dedicated to just crafts and supplies. Give fine art their own section. It's too gunked up with other stuff. I've considered those apps or FB local virtual garage sales.

I've been using etsy and it was pretty good at first but has slowed down tremendously recently. I hate ebay and I've had little to no luck at groups recently. I price my stuff really low but maybe there's just no demand for it right now.

Do you have LSS? We have one and they have garage sale 2x a year. I plan on buying a table in the Fall but I will NOT just give away my stuff. I'm willing to let it sit in my basement for a while longer but that's just me. I'm afraid with the turn down in the hobby I won't be able to replace something if I change m mind. I love the idea of a big local craft supply, stamp and scrap sale too!
