Assume you must cross either state, side to side, to get home from an already 3,000+ mile road trip. Which is worse?
I-80E across Nebraska? or I-70E across Kansas?

We've done both. I asked dh and he said it depends on where you're coming from.
eta: He said other than the mountains going through Colorado there isn't really much difference. On I-80 you have to go through some mountainous areas but not nearly as much as on I-70.
I remember nothing, personally. I was the passenger.

We've done both multiple times. 6 in one, half dozen in the other. Safe travels!

I've done both but for these two states it doesn't really matter. What matters is how it affects the rest of your trip. Isn't one of them going to be either to far south or to far north at a later point in the trip?

We much prefer Nebraska. Lots of possible stops with historical interest. We did Kansas ONCE and never again. I am sure Kansas is a fine state but I encountered no signage directing me to interesting things near the Interstate as Nebraska offers.

We really liked the Great Platte River Road Archway in Nebraska. The kids had fun going through the maze there.

That is one of the best museums I have ever encountered for their ability to engage people in the subject matter.

There is absolutely nothing along that road except signs saying "Do not drive into smoke" and " Do not pick up prisoners". God forbid you should have to pee or eat.

One day I drove across I-80 for a week ... seeing Chimney Rock off in the distance but never getting closer. Lord ... that is a long road. I'd prefer I70 crossing Kansas

Now that (for the most part) they are both 75 MPH it just depends where you are starting and ending. Personally, I hate the drive from KS to Denver. But, I also despise having to leave I-80 to go South after Lincoln. And... I do hate to drive through KS City so if I can avoid that, I'm happy too. Unfortunately, I've made both those journey's too many times so it depends on my mood, and where the final destination is. I have always thought that there were more highway patrols in KS which can be good or bad depending on whether you need them or not.

At the time I was in Cheyenne. I could have gone S to Fort Collins but decided to stay with I-80. May drive through the night.

As for the 75mph, I have one word: HA! There is construction EVERYWHERE, much of it shifting both directions of travel to one side or the other.

If I was already in Cheyenne and the end point was up that way, I'd take 80. No reason to come down just to go over and to get to 70 from Cheyenne means going through Fort Collins (which is way congested) and then into the middle of Denver. Then you have to drive 70 through Denver unless you take E 470 to 70 and then you could skip Denver.
