Is there a state attraction you've never visited?
Do you have the desire to go?

The State Fair. I've been many times but only for the concerts, never actually 'done' the fair part. I didn't order concert tickets this year because I didn't know if dad would still be living here. He moves next week so this year I'm going to the fair. Stinky animal pens, junk food, overpriced rides and games and blistering July heat, I'm going to do it all.

The pictured rocks. That's the one thing I want to do but haven't yet. DH and I are planning a trip for next year that includes kayaking around it.

Texas is a BIIIIG state. There are a lot of attractions I've never visited, particularly up around the Dallas area. Never been to the state fair or the grassy knoll; not much desire to go to either one.

Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony. And I finally get to go in a couple weeks . LOL, I've been meaning to take a trip out there for 30 years!

The Zugspitze. It is the highest point in the Bavarian Alps, right on the southern border with Austria. There is a cable car right to the peak and you can see into four countries from there on a clear day.

We have a small island off the coast here in CA (Catalina). I've never been even though I've lived here 40 years! I'd like to go sometime.
There's also a quaint mountain town about 90 minutes from here or so that is famous for their apples/pie. I've never been there either and would like to go.

Utah is a big state with a lot of state and national parks. I know I need to see more. I'd like to go to The Shakespeare festival in Cedar City. I've seen plays there (they were given a Tony award at SUU), just not the festival.

I haven't been to the Outer Banks and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. My mom and sister are coming in July, so maybe we will go! My sister also wants to go to Myrtle Beach, SC to Hard Rock Cafe!

In my current state, Chimney Rock. I have a friend who rented a condo in the Sugartop mountain complex. --it's the only building built on the top of a peak in the Blue Ridge mountains and no more will be built. The condo had direct views of Chimney Rock and Grandfather's Mountain. It was absolutely amazingly breathtaking, but my friend said she's taken people there who don't get the big deal. There's no way I'd ever walk across that rickety bridge on Grandfather Mountain, but I do like that area. I grew up right by Cape Lookout lighthouse--we'd always fly around it during my pilot training--the beach there is a good emergency landing zone in an area that doesn't have many choices. I haven't spent much time down by Wilmington, so I haven't see all of the NC lighthouses personally. I have seen a lot of the mountains and the central area. Dh and I honeymooned in Asheville after getting married at the beach.

I'm in California, so a lot to do and see, and I've done a lot - from desert to mountains to ocean. I'm not much of a museum girl but I like to go to the Rosie the Riverter Museum in Richmond. My grandmother was a Rosie and worked in the shipyards in Richmond during WWII. I've been across the GG Bridge many times but I've never walked across it. those are the first two things that came to mind. I'm sure there is LOTS more. Nink - Yosemite is my most favorite place ever - it's just so beautiful. We usually go twice per year and camp. January/February and May (for a friends group trip). But we missed the May trip this year, so I'm hoping to go in the fall.

Yosemite and yes I'd like to go eventually. It's only about two hours away but whenever I think about going it just seems like such a hassle.

You must make time to go! It's one of the only reasons living in Central CA doesn't suck. I go up there 5-6 times a year and it never gets old.
But try to go before May or after September. You will enjoy it so much more without the billions of tourists.
chaosisapony - are you I'm 2 hours south of Yosemite. It's worth the hassle I promise!

I think I have covered most of California but I would like to visit all the missions. I have been to 7 of them and we are visiting 3 more in a few weeks. People who grew up in CA think I'm nuts but I love the missions. I guess that's cause I wasn't forced to do a mission project in elementary school - lol.

Wisconsin has a fabulous system of state parks and, while I've been to many of them, I have never been to any of the ones along the Mississippi.

Yes. I've never been to Monticello, or Jamestown, or Williamsburg (except to go to Great Wolf Lodge, lol). My kids have both been to Monticello and Jamestown because schools go there for field trips. But thankfully I escaped going on those. My dh went to Monticello and probably Jamestown. I avoided those like the plague because there's nothing I'd rather NOT do more than ride a bus for several hours with kids. And then even worse, ride that bus back home. I escaped the Richmond field trip also, but I have been there all on my own. lol

We live in the Bay Area and have traveled south to San Diego and north to Oregon but we would be hard-pressed to see all the state has to offer. I think we've done all the *major* stuff: Yosemite, Tahoe, major amusement parks, Carmel, Monterey, Alcatraz, Muir Woods, etc.

At first I thought there was a picture attached to your post that my computer was blocking I have thus googled and added this place to our future RV/kayak adventures!

We have the Great Sand Dunes three hours from us and I went when I was 10. I want to go again. There is also a gator farm close by. I need to hold a reptile.

Haven't been to the Texas State Fair yet. I've also not been to Big Bend State Park, and considering how long it takes to get there from Houston, I doubt I ever will since I hate road trips!

With 50 states, I haven't even been to all the all of the states yet, let alone all the state attractions. In Ohio, I have not been to the Indian mounds

I've lived my entire 50+ years in NC, have been to about 30 other states, and have never been to the Outer Banks. It is further to drive to our coastline than to the SC beaches so we always go to SC, specifically Hilton Head. Even to the far tip of SC, it is closer to use than the Outer Banks. I keep thinking we need to go sometime but to see all the attractions you have to do even more driving up the coast. The older I get, the less driving trips I want to make.

In Ohio, I have not been to the Indian mounds I'm pretty sure the OP was referring to attractions in our own states. I've been to most of the big attractions in my state (PA), but some of the visits were when I was too young to care. I'd like to revisit some of those - mostly historical attractions in the southeastern part of the state. SaveSave
