I use a square punch to make banner tails. I ALWAYS use washi tape to hold down paper on my Cricut mat. I mostly use the original TH brand, which was called tissue tape. For my store bought cards (should really make them) I jazz them up with ribbon, stickles, wink a stella, buttons etc from my stash.

I'm not sure if this is a tool, but I like to use the paper from the inside of security envelopes. Believe it or not, there are variations of the pattern. For some reason, I like those patterns. I cut out letters from it, use as a border strip, mount a journaling card on it.
I turn them inside out and reseal it with Tombow, it makes for a pretty envelope for a letter.
( whispers) I've looked for different patterns and buy them. Usually dollar stores are the best source and I probably have a couple dozen different boxes.

using my cloud dies as bunches of leaves on a tree... Brilliant! I, too, have a Spiderman layout using my Halloween supplies. I'm just the opposite. I have a ton of Halloween stuff that I haven't been able to use because my kid has only dressed up in something Halloween related once. So I end up looking through my specific birthday and Disney Vacation supply bins to find character themed things to make Halloween pages with Elmo, Elsa, etc. Having been on multiple Disney vacations, I have a lot of Disney stuff. I bought several of the pads of patterned paper that have the characters on them, but I have a hard time using paper with borders, etc. So my thought is that I'll cut the characters out of the corner of the paper and make my own embellishments that I can use anywhere on the page or incorporate into the title somehow. And just now, it occurred to me that every one of those pads have multiple sheets of the same design. Since I know I won't ever use the same paper twice, what I could do instead would be to fussy cut one of the designs completely, then cut out some of the parts from another sheet or even two, and use foam tape to adhere them over the base piece to make my own layered embellishments. For the cost of two larger embellishments, I could make a pile of them out of one pad of paper bought on sale or with a coupon! Why didn't I think of this BEFORE I spent a pile of money on all of those other things? Duh! Plus it would be a good project to do when I'm too brain dead to do other things when I'm at a crop.

I have layouts where my kid was SpongeBob and the papers are all spooky owl, but on the journaling tag, I do have a SpongeBob sticker.

We love Halloween and try to stretch the season out a bit longer by going to different events around town beforehand, so I'm sure I'll use all of the other stuff eventually. Plus it's nice to actually use some of the huge hoard of Disney stuff I've compiled over the last 15 years!

Going off of the OP, and Halloween things... My kids school colors are black and orange. So I always go to the Halloween section and look for papers for school. I try to stay away from things with too many skulls, or make sure they're in a good place to cover up.
Maybe some of you have school colors you can use based off of other holidays? Red & Blue could be lots of summer or Fourth of July papers, etc...

I am a Canadian, but should maybe head south of the 49th on the 4th so I can take some pic's and then scrap them with the huge supply of red, white & blue pp and cs I have collected for my dgs's baseball pages...

I use the security envelope insides for mixed media albums and mini-albums. I am always peeking inside the envelopes I get in the junk mail pile to see if there is an interesting pattern. You never know!
